...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM MDT
FOR NORTHEASTERN PROWERS AND SOUTHEASTERN KIOWA COUNTIES...

At 540 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Towner, or 21
miles west of Tribune, moving southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind 
         damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Sheridan Lake and Towner.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHEASTERN PROWERS AND
SOUTHEASTERN KIOWA COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 600 PM MDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area.
Therefore, this warning will be allowed to expire.  However, small 
hail and gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight MDT for
southeastern Colorado.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
Pueblo.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for 
Northeastern Prowers County and Southeastern Kiowa County until 615 
PM.

.SHORT TERM /Today and tonight/...

Rest of today,

Latest obs indicate moisture over the plains is hanging in as dwpts
remained in the 50 or above below 7500 feet. The deeper moisture wes
note over the far eastern plains where 60 dwpts were noted. Storms
were already beginning to form over NE Colorado, and with the NW
flow aloft any rotating storm will have the propensity to move to
the right of the mean flow, although the hodographs today are pretty
straight so we may get left and right splits once the convection
matures. Overall given the location of the sfc trough over NE CO,
the greatest strong/svr storm potential will be over are far eastern
plains late this afternoon and evening.

Later tonight, guidance continues to indicate a cluster of storms
will back-build into the southeast plains as a 700 mb trough
propagates over the region. These storms are forecast to become most
prevalent after midnight and affect the southeast plains into the
early morning hours.

Red Flag conditions were occurring over several region of the
interior valleys and mountains early this afternoon, and this will
continue into the early evening hours.

.LONG TERM /TOMORROW THROUGH SATURDAY/...

Weather looks to be quite active this upcoming week as a favorable
pattern for severe storms develops over the region. NW mid level
moderate flow will continue through most of the week and several
disturbances will move over the region in this flow. Additionally,
upslope flow will be in place. The combinations of the NW Flow aloft
and the surface upslope will set up a favorable shear pattern, along
with sufficient CAPE, for organized severe storms to develop in the
afternoon and evening hours. Given the NW flow, storms will have the
potential to affect the I-25 corridor cities if right turning
supercells develop vicinity of the mtn/plains interface. The
severe weather threat will likely last into Thursday. By Friday,
flow aloft finally weakens and the threat for organized
convection will decrease.

Over the higher terrain, it will remain hot, dry and breezy at times
as a modest jet will be over the region. This will keep fire danger
high over the mtns and valleys, A Red Flag warning is in effect
tomorrow and additional warnings will likely be needed through
Wednesday for the interior mtns and valleys.

Later in the week, guidance indicated that mid level moisture moving
up from the tropical Pacific will move over S California and then
into COlorado, This should bring an increasing chance of precip to
the mtns starting Thursday and lasting into Saturday. Likewise, we
should hopefully start to see some rain over the higher terrain by
later in the week.

It looks to dry out by Sunday all areas as a rather anonymous mid
level trough develops over the Pacific NW and rather strong flow
(and very warm temps aloft) move over the region.

VFR conditions are anticipated during the next 24 hours at all 3 taf
sites, KPUB, KALS and KCOS. Diurnal flow will continue this
afternoon but a boundary will push through KCOS and KPUB around
00 UTC and this will bring breezy NE winds to the two taf
sites. into the early evening hours. There will also be a chance
of a late night shower at KPUB.

Critical fire weather conditions are likely to continue over the
interior mountains and valleys Today through Wednesday, and then

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Severe thunderstorms are expected later this afternoon into the
evening hours over the far eastern plains of Colorado. The best
chance for severe storms will be over Kiowa, Bent, Prowers and
eastern Baca counties. The primary threat will be wind gusts to 70
mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter.

Later tonight, a thunderstorms complex is forecast to develop over
the southeast plains of Colorado, and this will bring late night
thunderstorms to quite a few areas of the southeast plains into
the early morning hours. The primary concern will be periods of
heavy rain and small hail.

Red flag conditions will occur today over the interior mountains,
the San Luis Valley and Fremont county. Please do not do anything
which could cause a spark and start a wildfire.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

Severe thunderstorms will likely occur every day from Monday
through Thursday across the eastern plains of Colorado. The
combination of northwesterly mid level flow, sufficient
instability, and several disturbances in the flow aloft will allow
for scattered thunderstorm to develop each day. With sufficient
shear over the region. the storms will have to propensity to
become severe, producing large hail. damaging winds and a tornado
or two. Given that the flow aloft is northwest may allow for
severe thunderstorm activity to affect the larger population
centers along the I-25 corridor during this period.

Over the interior mountains, it will be hot and dry and breezy at
times, and critical fire weather conditions will be likely
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday over the interior mountains and
valleys. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to return to the
mountains Thursday into the weekend.

At 235 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Ramah, or 29 miles southwest of Limon, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Ramah.

miles north of Chivington, or 20 miles southwest of Cheyenne Wells,
moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.
