FOR SOUTHEASTERN PROWERS AND NORTHEASTERN BACA COUNTIES...

At 623 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 13 miles northeast
of Two Buttes, or 15 miles northwest of The Saunders Elevator, moving
northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to 
         roofs, siding, and trees.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
southeastern Prowers and northeastern Baca Counties.

Buttes, or 11 miles northwest of The Saunders Elevator, moving
northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

NORTHEASTERN BACA COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However, small hail and
gusty winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MDT for
southeastern Colorado.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...

For today, severe storms will be likely over the far eastern plains.
latest hi rez guidance shows the greatest potential for severe
storms over the Baca county region. However, the atmosphere will be
quite conducive for severe thunderstorm activity anywhere generally
20-30 miles east of the I-25 corridor region. The primary threats
will be large damaging hail and damaging winds, although a tornado
can not be ruled out.

Critical fire weather conditons are likely over a large part of the
region today, and several stations were already reaching red flag
criteria early this afternoon.

Based on latest guidance, the convection should be out of the region
by early this evening. The Red Flag conditions may linger well into
the evening hours.

Otherwise, it will be hot today regionwide, and 100F readings are
likely over parts of the plains with 90s over the remainder of the
plains. 80s to around 90 valleys.

Tomorrow will be a repeat of today although the magnitude of the
activity will be less. Additionally, it will be several degrees
cooler than today. As for severe, SPC now has a good part of the
plains under marginal risk tomorrow with slight over the far eastern
plains. Red Flag conditions will be possible mainly over the
interior mountains, the San Luis valley and Fremont county.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Issued at 107 PM MDT Sat Jun 20 2026

Main issued from Monday into late week will be the threat for strong
to severe storms over the plains. A favorable upslope pattern will
develop and several mid level disturbances in the northwesterly flow
aloft will move over the region. Shear and CAPE will be favorable
for rotating storms, and expect we may see a few days of severe
storms over the plains. With the NW flow, any supercells that
develop will have a tendency to turn to the right of the mean flow
and this may put the urban corridor cities under the gun for severe
storms during this period.

Over the interior mtns and valleys, it will remain hot and dry.
Winds will likely be strong enough to warrant red flag conditions
and expect we may see several days of fire weather highlights over
the higher terrain this upcoming week,

By late week, winds aloft are expected to become weak, and this will
decrease the critical fire weather danger over the higher terrain.
Additionally, we will start to dry out over the plains and this will
decrease the amount of strength of convection over the lower
elevations. Temperatures will also warm up quite a bit by the end

VFR conditions are expected at COS, PUB and ALS over the
next 24 hours. Breezy southwest winds at COS and PUB to
become more west to northwest through the evening ahead
of a front that will bring gusty northerly winds 15-25kts
to the terminals between 06Z-09Z. Winds through the day
tomorrow to be more diurnal south to southeast, with some
convection possible north of COS across the Palmer dvd
late in the afternoon. Breezy southwest winds at ALS to
diminish through the early evening, with breezy southwest
winds once again aft 18Z Sun.

Red Flag warnings are in effect for most of the region today, and
mainly for the interior mountains and valleys for tomorrow.

Monday through Thursday: Dry, warm conditions will last throughout
most of next week. Critical conditions are expected each day across
the higher terrain, with low RH values and frequently gusty winds
during the afternoons. At this time, no precipitation is expected
over the mountains this week.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into
this evening. Chances for storms will be highest over the far
eastern plains, with odds decreasing further to the west. Storms
that form are expected to intensify, becoming strong to severe. Main
impact concerns will be damaging winds 70 to 80 mph and hail of 2
to 2 and a half inches in diameter. An isolated tornado will be
possible.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for all of the mountains, the
valleys and most of the plains along the I-25 corridor region
extending out to the La Junta region. Please do not do anything
that could cause a spark and start a wildfire.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Thursday

On Sunday, isolated to scattered storms will be possible over the
plains. Strong storms will be possible mainly east of a line from
Calhan to Fowler to Branson. One or two severe storms will be
possible over the far eastern plains. Winds to 60 to 70 mph will
be possible along with ping-pong size hail.

Over the mountains on Sunday, critical fire weather conditions are
likely and a red flog warning is in effect for many areas of the
higher terrain

From Monday through late week, showers and thunderstorms will be
possible over the plains each day. A persistent upslope pattern
combined with several weak disturbances in the northwesterly flow
aloft will allow for these storms to become strong to severe. Large
hail, damaging winds and a tornado or two will be possible through
this period.

Over the mountains, it will remain quite warm and very dry, and fire
weather concerns will be high through this period over the higher
terrain.
