...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 800 PM MDT
FOR NORTHEASTERN HUERFANO...NORTHWESTERN LAS ANIMAS AND SOUTHEASTERN
PUEBLO COUNTIES...

At 751 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 24 miles northeast
of Walsenburg, or 30 miles south of Pueblo, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northeastern Huerfano, northwestern Las Animas and southeastern
Pueblo Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHEASTERN HUERFANO...
NORTHWESTERN LAS ANIMAS AND SOUTHEASTERN PUEBLO COUNTIES HAS
EXPIRED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been allowed to expire.  However, heavy
rain is still possible with this thunderstorm.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/...

Flash flooding once again will be a threat today. Perusing HREF
guidance overall best chance of flash flooding today will be over EL
Paso county, as numerous high rest product show substantial QPF
moving over this region late this afternoon and especially early
this evening. Additionally, this area got quite a bit of rain
yesterday and flash flooding did occur over the eastern parts of the
county.

Another area will be the Aspen Acres (AA) burn scar region. Quite a
bit of rain has fallen over the scar yesterday and any additional
rain will quickly run off. However, confidence is not as high as
yesterday as qpf forecasted for later this afternoon was not as high
as yesterday. However, one small storm producing heavy rain could
cause significant problems over the AA region. The best chance for
heavier rain over the AA burn scar will be from 4 to 7 pm per latest
guidance.

Storms will once again roll slowly across the plains bringing
beneficial rain to the lower elevations, with the activity expected
to be over the KS/CO border area around midnight.

Of interest, guidance brings another round of showers and storms
across the central mtns late this evening into the early morning
hours.

Tomorrow, it will be much drier over the region, however we will
see a few storms over the plains later tomorrow afternoon and
evening. Flash flood threat will be much lower tomorrow, however any
rain on a burn scar could be problematic. During the evening, a weak
boundary will move across the region, and this may keep the
scattered storms ongoing into the early AM hours of Friday. A few of
the storms Thursday could be strong as there will be some shear on
this day.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

Friday.... Some drier air will come down on the plains, and drier
air is noted moving into the central mtn area. Likewise, these areas
will see little if any precip. However, areas along the mtns/plains
interface will see the best instability and moisture, and we may see
a localized area of higher pops along the mtn/plains interface, with
the best chance across the southern Sangres. Additionally, the AA
burn scar will have a chance of some localized heavy convective
precip.

Saturday will be similar to Friday, but the precip chances this day
will be best over the far southern Sangre De Cristo region.

Of note, temps FRI and SAT, temps on the plains wont be too bad,
mainly 90s lower/mid 90s with U80s El Paso county.

For SUN and MON, 100s return to most of the plains with M90s El Paso
county. Any storms will be isolated and high based.

Tuesday it will cool off once again with storms in the mtns and
isolated on the plains.

PROB 30 has been included in the TAFs this evening and
tomorrow afternoon for KCOS and KPUB. Thunderstorm chances in

sporadic in nature, but if a storm develops over KCOS or KPUB
MVFR to LIFR conditions are possible during that period tomorrow
afternoon.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Flash flooding is likely to occur across parts of the region
today. A flash flood watch is in effect for all of the southern
Mountains, and greater I-25 corridor region extending out to
Kiowa, Bent and Otero counties. The best chance for heavier rain
will be across all of the Pikes Peak region and then eastward to
Kiowa and Prowers counties. The heavy rain will occur across the
Pikes Peak region late this afternoon, and then extending out on
to the plains this evening.

Another area of high concern will once again be over the Aspen
Acres burn scar. Significant flash flooding occurred over the scar
yesterday, and any rain which occurs today could cause additions
flash flooding, and it could be significant. The overall best
chance of heavy rain over the burn scare will be late this
afternoon.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will remain possible
Thursday and Friday before drier conditions arrive over the weekend.
Flash flooding will remain possible, especially on area burn scars,
and areas that have seen recent heavy rains.  Lightning, small hail
and gusty outflow winds may accompany stronger storms.

Hot temperatures return Sunday and Monday across the Plains, with
highs in the upper 90s to lower 100s.  Shower and thunderstorm
activity looks to remain confined to the higher terrain.  More
widespread activity may return to southern Colorado by Tuesday.

CENTRAL CUSTER COUNTIES THROUGH 615 PM MDT...

At 526 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Texas Creek to 14 miles southeast of
Cotopaxi. Movement was northeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph, hail up to penny size hail, and
         torrential rainfall.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible. Heavy rainfall could cause ponding of water on
         paved road surfaces, washouts on dirt roads, and quick
         runoff causing high flows in area creeks, streams and
         normally dry washouts.

Locations impacted include...
Royal Gorge and Canon City.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead

stationary.
