...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 PM MDT /515 PM 
CDT/ THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOUTH CENTRAL EDDY AND NORTH CENTRAL 
CULBERSON COUNTIES...

At 232 PM MDT /332 PM CDT/, gauge reports indicated that heavy rain 
was falling across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain 
has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inch are possible 
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Gauges reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Whites City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where 
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become 
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or 
creeks.

  this evening. Locally heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding.

- Below normal temperatures are forecast through the weekend
  before highs rebound near to above normal by next week.

A shield of rain continues to move across the Permian Basin early
this afternoon after bringing nearly an inch of rain to a good
chunk of the region. Temperatures have remain chilly for the first
day of May with most locations only in the 40s/50s. Some sun is
beginning to peak out west of the Pecos River, but temperatures
there have struggled to reach 60 degrees as well. We are
monitoring a well- defined MCV located near El Paso moving slowly
south. This could help generate another round of storms for far
western portions of the region this afternoon into the evening.
All rain should be tapering off around sunset.

Northeast winds will subside overnight and skies will slowly clear.
This will allow temperatures to fall into he 40s for most locations
by morning. With the widespread rain and calm overnight conditions
we could see some fog develop. Saturday will be your pick of the
week as temperatures remain below normal in the 60s/70s with a mix
of sun and clouds and light winds. Temperatures slide back into the
40s Saturday night again with light winds.

(Sunday through Thursday)

Weak ridging builds in early next week while lee troughing develops
at the surface. This will swing winds around to a westerly component
helping to boost temperatures back above normal with highs back in
the 80s and 90s. Expect dry conditions through at least Tuesday
before our next storm system enters the picture. A weakening trough
could bring a low chance for rain across northern portions of the
region Wednesday. Our next best chance for widespread precipitation
appears to be late next week as a deeper trough arrives.

SHRA continue across much of the area, but coverage is lessening
compared to this morning. MVFR/IFR cigs will also continue through
the afternoon before lifting this evening. A big unknown is the
potential for FG given the rainfall and light winds overnight.
Will monitor for inclusion in future TAF issuances.
