.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGE 1)
An active weather pattern remains in place across the Ohio Valley, as
a stalled frontal boundary provides a focus for repeated rounds of
showers and thunderstorms. One round of storms is currently impacting
southern Ohio with significantly heavy rainfall. Precipitable water
values of over 2 inches are capable of sustaining these kinds of
rainfall rates. Attention will then turn to a round of storms
currently over southern Illinois, which will probably clip the
southern part of the ILN forecast area during the early morning.

A third round is forecast to impact the southern part of the forecast
area from mid to late afternoon, with higher confidence in this round
occurring and producing heavy rainfall. Still not seeing enough
confidence in storm placement for the next few rounds to issue a
flood watch, but will continue to communicate the concerns for
multiple rounds of storms in a moisture-primed environment. SPC has
also placed a MRGL risk in the far southern sections of the forecast
area, with some potential for strong to severe winds, though thin
CAPE profiles and marginal shear will make this threat rather
limited.

With quite a bit of cloud cover expected today, highs will be in the
upper 70s to around 80 -- slightly below normal for early to mid
September.

KEY MESSAGE 2)
The frontal boundary will drift just to the south of the area on
Friday, leaving most (if not all) of the forecast area dry. An
approaching shortwave on Saturday will lead to another surge of
moisture northward into the Ohio Valley, along with a chance for some
showers and storms.

Warming conditions are expected from Sunday through the middle of
next week, with temperatures reaching values above normal.

.AVIATION /06Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Showers and storms are mostly ending for now, but additional rounds
will be expected, with the focus primarily across the Cincinnati
airports through the next 24 hours. One additional round of storms
may occur in the 13Z-16Z time frame, and the next (which could have
some impacts at the other airports as well) will be in the 17Z-22Z
time frame. Where and when storms occur, brief IFR conditions and
gusty winds will be possible.

Outside of storms, some MVFR ceilings are expected overnight through
mid to late morning. There is the potential for stratus to develop
tomorrow night, but this would likely be just beyond the end of the
TAF period.

OUTLOOK...MVFR ceilings and visibilities possible into Friday
morning. Additional thunderstorms possible on Saturday.
