.SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 217 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026

The early morning rain/t-storms will be moving out of the eastern
counties by 6 AM. As the low pressure moves to northern Illinois,
the cold front will sweep through the rest of the CWA, with west
winds increasing to 15 to 25 mph, and gusts to 30 mph. Today, this
CAA will bring low clouds and gusty wind through the entire day.
I've lowed the temperatures to the 25% NBM, as this handled the cold
air better yesterday. The blustery, and sometimes very windy
weather will ease of tonight, with winds lowering to 10 to 20 mph.
Lows tonight under mostly cloudy skies will fall to the lower 30s.

Sunday appears a much better day, albeit with rather cool
temperatures as well. Highs with some sunshine and northwest winds
of 10 to 15 mph will reach the lower to mid 50s. A secondary push
of blustery cold northwest winds will arrive late Sunday night, with
Monday looking very similar to today's highs in the 40s to low 50s
under clouds and winds of 15 to 25 mph Northwest.

This push of cold air from a very strong high pressure system
arriving from Polar regions will bring a very high chance for
temperatures in the 20s for all of the CWA, especially the north,
where lower 20s is forecast. This is probably the most notable push
of cold air we'll see the the rest of this spring season, as
southwest flow returns to the forecast for mid to late week and
beyond.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Issued at 217 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026

Though southeast winds and WAA will begin to spread into the area on
Tuesday, this shallow cold air mass will provide one last day in the
40s for the area. By Tuesday night and Wednesday, the south to
southeast winds will finally bring back near to above normal
temperatures to the region. With southwest to zonal flow in the
extended forecast, along with increased moisture values, we're near
to above normal regarding temperatures Wednesday through
Friday.

Rain chances may brush through our southern areas Mon through
Wednesday, but the more notable chances for rainfall, including
significant rainfall potentially over 1 inch, are expected late in
the week.&&

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 1210 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026

A line of widespread showers and storms will continue to move
east through areas near the Mississippi River through 07z,
before ending, and behind the cold front west to northwest winds
of 15 to 20 kts will increase, and cigs will drop to IFR levels
between 500 and 1000 ft the rest of the night and morning hours
Saturday. A cool, cloudy, breezy Saturday is forecast, with cigs
gradually lifting to MVFR levels through the day. Wind gusts
could exceed 30 kts at times during the day from the northwest.

&&

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 620 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026

Surface low continues to track northeast out of the area this
morning, which has an expansive stratus deck draped over the
area. Currently, cigs are quite variable, but generally between
500-1500 ft. As we progress through the day, we will see cigs
gradually lift, with terminals becoming VFR around 20z. From
there, the stratus deck will continue to lift and scatter out
through tonight.

Winds will remain quite gusty and out of the west through the
day, with some terminals already seeing gusts upwards to 25-30
KTs. By 15-18z, much of the area will see sustained winds
between 15-20 KTs with gusts upwards to 30 KTs. Winds will start
to gradually decrease in speed after 00z this evening, yet still
remain breezy through the night.
