Issued at 217 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026 The early morning rain/t-storms will be moving out of the eastern counties by 6 AM. As the low pressure moves to northern Illinois, the cold front will sweep through the rest of the CWA, with west winds increasing to 15 to 25 mph, and gusts to 30 mph. Today, this CAA will bring low clouds and gusty wind through the entire day. I've lowed the temperatures to the 25% NBM, as this handled the cold air better yesterday. The blustery, and sometimes very windy weather will ease of tonight, with winds lowering to 10 to 20 mph. Lows tonight under mostly cloudy skies will fall to the lower 30s. Sunday appears a much better day, albeit with rather cool temperatures as well. Highs with some sunshine and northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph will reach the lower to mid 50s. A secondary push of blustery cold northwest winds will arrive late Sunday night, with Monday looking very similar to today's highs in the 40s to low 50s under clouds and winds of 15 to 25 mph Northwest. This push of cold air from a very strong high pressure system arriving from Polar regions will bring a very high chance for temperatures in the 20s for all of the CWA, especially the north, where lower 20s is forecast. This is probably the most notable push of cold air we'll see the the rest of this spring season, as southwest flow returns to the forecast for mid to late week and beyond. && .LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... Issued at 217 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2026 Though southeast winds and WAA will begin to spread into the area on Tuesday, this shallow cold air mass will provide one last day in the 40s for the area. By Tuesday night and Wednesday, the south to southeast winds will finally bring back near to above normal temperatures to the region. With southwest to zonal flow in the extended forecast, along with increased moisture values, we're near to above normal regarding temperatures Wednesday through Friday.
