.SYNOPSIS...
Dry conditions prevail through Friday and gusty winds continue
into this evening across the mountains. Low pressure crosses the
Southeast over the weekend with rain chances through early Monday.
High pressure returns at the beginning of next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 635 PM EST Thursday: Surface high pressure builds into the
area tonight and east of the area Friday. Winds have diminished but
gusts linger in some areas. Even where gusts continue, speeds have
fallen below Wind Warning/Advisory levels, so will allow those to
expire on time. Winds will continue to weaken overnight, then pick
back up from the south by afternoon with some low end gusts possible
once again. Lingering stratocu across the mountains dissipates this
evening but cirrus moves back in and remains through the day Friday.
Lows will be 5 to 10 degrees below normal. Highs will range from
near to 5 degrees above normal.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 1235 PM Thursday: A weak system will move across the Ohio
Valley Friday night and Saturday bringing the chance of light rain
showers to the western North Carolina mountains near the Tennessee
border. Otherwise, conditions will remain dry across the forecast
area for those periods. A second system will move across the
southeastern states Saturday night and Sunday bringing the chance of
light rain to the forecast area.
Highs on Saturday will be 10 to 12 degrees above normal for this
time of year, while highs on Sunday will be slightly below normal
with the clouds and light rain.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 100 PM Thursday: The chance of light rain will continue Sunday
night into very early Monday as this system slowly slides off the
southeast coast. Behind this system, mid level heights will rise
from later Monday into Wednesday. This will lead to a tranquil
period until Thursday, when the chance of rain will return.
Highs will climb back to well above normal Tuesday through Thursday.

.AVIATION /00Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
At KCLT and elsewhere: VFR conditions expected through the TAF
period as high pressure builds in from the west tonight and moves
east of the area Friday. Winds have diminished but gusts will
continue at KAVL through the evening. Occasional light gusts will
be possible elsewhere. Light and variable to calm wind expected
overnight, light N at KAVL. Cirrus steadily increases overnight and
lingers into Friday. Winds pick up fro the S to SW by late morning
and continue into the afternoon with low end gusts are possible.
Outlook: A weak cold front crosses the area Saturday with the
potential for showers and restrictions across the mountains and
gusty shifting winds all areas. A low pressure system moves south of
the area Sunday and Monday with the potential for showers and
restrictions. Dry high pressure returns Tuesday.
