.SYNOPSIS...
Strong occluding low pressure remains to our northeast through
Saturday helping to keep our region unsettled. Surface high
pressure builds in Saturday/Saturday night, holds influence
over the region into Tuesday. Next low pressure system may
approach by the time frame of Wednesday.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 6:55AM...No changes to the near term forecast at this
time.
Strong surface low pressure is currently centered just offshore
while more surface low pressure and an upper level low remain
situated to our west. With time, the strong offshore surface low
will nudge northeastwards as it becomes more vertically stacked with
the upper level low and occludes. This synoptic situation will
be the story of the near term; our region will continue to feel
the influence of low pressure while remaining unsettled overall.
Some showers will linger this morning as the region remains
unsettled, but showers as a whole will continue to taper off with
time. A lull in shower activity is likely to begin before 8AM and
last through much of the morning for the region. Come this
afternoon, guidance (including latest mesoscale models) points
to more showers developing across the region with shower
activity posed to last into the tonight period before tapering
off again after the midnight time frame.
Given the overall environment and where we are synoptic wise,
shower activity and development this afternoon should not amount
to any significant thunderstorm development. However, model
soundings do indicate a fair bit of instability will be present
this afternoon. We could see a few single cell thunderstorms
form with a couple of rumbles of thunder and lightning. Overall,
not expecting anything severe, but a few SPS worthy cells with
small hail cannot be ruled out given the environment.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
Weakening surface low pressure to our northeast Friday will meander
and nudge eastward some with time. As this occurs, surface high
pressure to the west will gradually build in as the low kicks out
further to the east. The region should begin to feel the
influence of this surface high pressure by the time frame of
Saturday/Saturday night, finally bringing an end to the
unsettled pattern we have been in.
At least into Saturday, the region will look to remain a bit
unsettled thanks to the surface low pressure, upper level
pattern, and shortwave energy in place. Shower activity is
possible again Friday afternoon into the evening. With high
pressure building in, there is a much lower chance for showers
to develop for Saturday, though a few stray showers still cannot
be ruled out for the time frame at this time. No PoPs are
included in the forecast for Friday night and Saturday night.
Mainly slight chance and chance PoPS are included for Friday
afternoon.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Guidance suggests surface high pressure should influence the region
Sunday into Tuesday as it slides eastward. However, guidance also
suggests that multiple rounds of shortwave/vorticity impulses could
impact the region starting by the time frame of Monday. This could
make things unsettled starting Monday despite the region feeling the
influence of surface high pressure. Next surface low pressure
system looks to approach from the west by the time frame of
Wednesday.
Dry forecast for Sunday and Sunday night with high pressure in
control. Some slight chance PoPs included for Monday/Monday
night and Tuesday/Tuesday night with possible
shortwave/vorticity impulses. Slight chance and chance PoPs
included for Wednesday.

Today...Mainly VFR with BKN035-BKN050 ceiling. Scattered
showers, some with graupel (or small hail) will be possible
after 19/20z. Westerly winds 5-10 kts. Moderate confidence.
Tonight..MVFR ceilings may develop after 0z. Scattered showers,
some with graupel (or small hail) may continue for a few hours
after 0z at some sites. WNW winds 5-10 kts. Moderate
confidence.
Outlook...
Friday-Saturday...Generally VFR. Scattered showers possible each
day. West to northwest winds 10-15 knots with gusts 20-30 knots
during the day. Moderate confidence.
Sunday-Sunday night...VFR conditions expected. North to northwest
winds 10-15 knots with gusts 15-20 knots during the day, diminishing
to 5-10 knots or less overnight. Moderate confidence.
Monday...VFR conditions expected. West to northwest winds 5-10
knots, becoming southwest overnight. Moderate confidence.

SCA is in effect until 8AM this morning for ANZ430 and until 1PM
this afternoon for ANZ431. For all ocean zones, SCA is in effect
until 7PM this evening.
For all ocean zones, SCA may be extended into the tonight
period as seas are forecast to linger around 5 feet.
Showers, along with some thunderstorms capable of producing
small hail, are possible this afternoon into the overnight
period.

.HYDROLOGY...
A Flood Watch is in effect for northern Delaware, all of our
Pennsylvania zones, and for our urban/I-95 corridor New Jersey
zones from through 6 PM Thursday.
While the heaviest rain is departing the region over the next
few hours, an additional round of light rain is possible later
this evening, followed by another round of showers tomorrow.
Therefore, no changes to the flood watch at this time. Many
areal flood warnings are in effect with smaller river and stream
flooding occurring, and we have a slew of river forecast points
also forecast to go into MINOR flood, like along the
Schuylkill, Rancocas, Raritan and Passaic Rivers. The Passaic at
Pine Brook and the Millstone at Blackwells Mills may reach
MODERATE flood stage Thursday.
If you live in an area that is conducive to flooding, this is
the time to prepare.

MINOR FLOODING: Minimal to no property damage, but some public
threat can be expected (e.g. inundation of roads).

MAJOR FLOODING: Extensive inundation of structures and roads.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
The evening high tide has passed on the Atlantic ocean front.
For the overnight high tide, it looks as if there will be one
more round of tidal flooding. Therefore, the Coastal Flood
Warning for Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and southeastern
Burlington counties remains in effect, and a coastal flood
advisory for the next high tide has been issued for Cape May
and Atlantic Counties. No major changes with the coastal flood
advisory on the tidal Delaware River. Some road closures, beach
erosion, and breaching of sand dunes can be expected in these
areas.
We are between the full/new moon cycles and therefore the
astronomical contribution is lower and the peak surge occurring
near low tide on the Atlantic coast should limit the potential
for major flooding. Elsewhere, another round of widespread minor
coastal flooding is forecast with the late tonight and early
Thursday morning high tide.
No widespread minor flooding is anticipated for the Maryland
Eastern Shore at this time.
