After a busy day on Sunday, South FL will remain in an active
pattern for the early portion of this week. A surface and upper
level low currently over the northern Gulf will pivot south this
morning, cross the southern FL peninsula during the afternoon into
early evening, and then move off into the western Atlantic on
Tuesday. For today, scattered showers and thunderstorms are
expected, with the highest PoPs being from mid morning through the
early afternoon. The tornadic threat is more limited today, with a
narrow window over SE FL late this morning into early this afternoon
where conditions could be conducive for an isolated tornado. The
primary threat today will be for some storms to contain some strong
to marginally severe wind gusts. Also, with 500 mb temps approaching
-20 C today and freezing levels potentially dropping below 9k ft,
wouldn't be surprised if there are multiple reports of hail today.
With the rain and cloud cover today, high temps should be below
normal, only reaching the middle 60s around the lake, to lower 70s
over SE FL.
Drier air starts to filter in tonight as the low moves off the coast
and high pressure builds in from the north, however the tightening
pressure gradient will start to increase wind speeds overnight. Low
temps will be in the low to middle 50s, however the chilly NW wind
will make it feel like the mid to upper 40s across most of the area.
On Tuesday there will still be some wrap around moisture which may
result in some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the
east coast metro, but the bigger story will be the increasing wind.
N/NW winds of 20-25 mph are expected beginning Tuesday mid to late
morning, with gusts of 30-40 mph possible. Wind Advisory was issued
from 4 AM Tuesday through 4 AM Wednesday for the east coast metro
and coastal areas. High temps will again be well below normal on
Tuesday, only reaching the upper 60s in most locations.

The stacked low will finally start to exit the region on
Wednesday, but it will still have some influence on South Florida
weather, as dry conditions with gusty northerly winds and cooler
temperatures persist through Thursday morning. High pressure and mid-
level ridging will start to build over the Florida peninsula on
Thursday, subduing the gusty winds and kick-starting a warming
trend. For the end of the week and into the weekend, the ridge
will continue to build over the area resulting in dry conditions
and temperatures returning to normal.
Overnight lows will dip into the 50s on Wednesday and Thursday
mornings with some 40s sneaking into the Lake region. Abundant
sunshine will allow highs to reach into the low to mid 70s for
Wednesday and Thursday. For Friday and over the weekend, lows
return to the upper 50s and 60s, with highs in the upper 70s to
low 80s.

region through this morning and into early afternoon hours. This
could create periods of MVFR or IFR conditions during this time
frame. Mainly VFR conditions will return to the region later this
afternoon and this evening. Gusty and erratic winds will also be
possible in and around storms. Winds will become northwest late
tonight and will increase and become gusty towards early Tuesday
morning.

Hazardous marine conditions are expected beginning this afternoon
across the Gulf waters as low pressure moves across the area. Seas
will build to 3-8 ft by this evening. Conditions over all South FL
waters become dangerous overnight into Tuesday as strong northerly
winds build into the area. Gale conditions are expected over the
Atlantic waters from early Tuesday through early Wednesday, with
strong Small Craft conditions over the Gulf, Lake Okeechobee, and
Biscayne Bay. Seas over the Gulf waters peak at 6-10 feet, while 12-
18 ft seas are expected in the Atlantic.
Conditions improve by mid day Wednesday for all waters except the
Atlantic, where hazardous seas will remain through at least mid day
Thursday, and possible into Friday for the Palm Beach Atlantic
waters.

A high risk of rip currents is in effect today for the Collier
county beaches, with an elevated risk along the Palm Beaches. All
South FL beaches will see a high risk of rips Tuesday through
Wednesday as strong swells build into the area.
Large breaking waves are expected along the Collier county coast
from Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon, with 5-7 ft waves
possible in the surf zone. A prolonged high surf event is likely
along the Palm Beach county coast beginning late Tuesday night and
lasting through the end of the work week. Waves of 6-10 ft are
possible in the surf zone.
Minor coastal flooding is possible along the Atlantic coast from
Tuesday through Thursday during periods of high tide. The greatest
risk each day will be during the morning high tide cycle.
