* Until 715 AM CST.

* At 414 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain 
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly.

While heavy rain has ended momentarily, additional storms will move 
into the area over the next 1-2 hours renewing flash flooding.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Only made a couple of small changes to the forecast tonight mainly
to account for the light showers that have been spreading north
across SE TX and western LA through the last couple of hours.
Otherwise, the forecast remains on track with scattered convection
expected to continue through the next few hours followed by an
increase in coverage and intensity as we head towards sunrise.
In addition, a very warm and moist airmass will hinder temps from
decreasing much more tonight, with overnight lows expected to be
in the low to mid 60s which is near seasonal highs for this time
of year. These temps coupled with dewpoints in the low to mid 60s
will result in widespread fog tonight, especially along and south
of I-10 where a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through
10AM.

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Thursday night)

Wx map shows a somewhat tight pressure gradient over inland areas, less
across the coastal waters. With temperatures & dewpoints in the 60s
over water temperatures in the upper 40s/lower 50s, areas of dense
fog continues over the nearshore coastal waters, lakes, and bays,
so marine dense fog advisory continues. East southeast winds
expected to continue this evening and overnight, which will likely
advect this area of marine fog inland. The other case will be the
lowering ceilings with the marine layer dropping to the surface.
Either process will result in areas to dense fog south of I-10.
Thus, have issued the Dense Marine Fog for these area from 9 PM
this evening through 10 AM Wednesday.

The persistent mid to upper level longwave trough over the
Western half of the U.S. will keep our region under a southwest
flow aloft. The intermittent upper level disturbances within the
flow, coupled with the copious Gulf moisture, expected to yield
repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Thursday. The
Day 1 Excessive Rainfall Outlooks through 6 AM Wednesday continues
to show a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) over most of the area, with
the Moderate Risk (Level 3 of 4) over the northern counties of
Inland SE TX. For the Day 2 outlook from 6 AM Wednesday through 6
AM Thursday shows most of the area now in the Moderate Risk. We
expect the next round of showers and thunderstorms to increase
later this evening over Southeast Texas and spread eastward across
Louisiana after Midnight. With the southwest flow aloft nearly
stationary, along with a surface trough parallel to the Texas
coast through most of our region, expect repeated rounds of
showers and thunderstorms for most of the day Wednesday through
Thursday morning. Storm total rainfall of 4 to 8 inches with
locally higher amounts will be possible. For this, have expanded
the Flood Watch for all areas of Southeast Texas, Central and
Southern Louisiana through Noon Thursday. The outlier is Lower
St. Martin and St. Mary parish where it remains unclear if the
rainfall maximum will set up that far southeast.

By Thursday night, the area of maximum moisture and lift looks to
weaken a bit and shift further east, lowering the precipitation
chances over Southeast Texas, Central and Southwest Louisiana, but
remain elevated over Acadiana.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through next Monday)

The active pattern continues at the start of the longterm period. A
cold front tries to swipe through the region on Thursday; its parent
shortwave slides into north Louisiana before lifting markedly to the
north into cenAR. This lack of forcing lets the cold front hang up
and linger over central Louisiana going into late Thursday. Early
Friday, the next shortwave pulse swings overhead, pulling the front
back into north Louisiana and spreading widespread light showers
over the region again during daylight hours Friday. Due to the
mixing of continental air mass from the cold front and marine air
mass from the Gulf, though, this round of precipitation should lack
the same umph as seen in previous days. Not expecting widespread
coverage of heavy downpours and severe thunderstorms, at least not
during daytime Friday. When the shortwave trof axis nears and
crosses overhead late Friday and overnight into Saturday, there
could be some stronger thunderstorm cells with isolated instances of
heavy rain. The rain should then end from west to east early
Saturday as the trof axis crosses us and another milder cold front
slides through the region.

Late Saturday and beyond, high pressure builds in keeping the
remainder of the longterm period dry.

As for temperatures, Friday appears to be the last day of well-above
climo normals (normals 60 to 64 F) with temps in the low 70s area
wide. Saturday, as the next cold front slides through, will see
temperatures in the mid 60s to near 70. And beyond Saturday, expect
highs in the low to mid 60s.

Low temperatures will take a little longer to respond to the cold
front. Friday and Saturday mornings, expect temps in the 50s, with a
fall into the 40s and then 30s Sunday and Monday mornings
respectively.

Over the next 24 hours, here's the definite for area terminals.
Low ceilings are expected at all sites with such a deep moist
layer showing up in forecast soundings. Showers and thunderstorms,
also given the deep moisture to go along with a nearby sfc trof
and passing disturbance aloft, especially tomorrow morning. Dense
fog, both of the marine variety moving in off the Gulf, as well as
a hybrid fog as the low ceilings mix down.

.MARINE...

Areas of dense fog will continue for the near shore waters, lakes,
and bays as warm and moist air continues over the very cold shelf
waters. The dense fog is expected to continue through Wednesday
morning, with a Dense Fog Advisory continuing for these areas.
Otherwise, a large upper level trough over the Western U.S. will
send periodic disturbances that will keep high chances of showers
and thunderstorms across the region through Friday night. The next
cold front expected to move through Saturday morning, bringing an
end of the rainfall and offshore flow for the weekend.
