.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will build in through Monday. A strong storm
system will impact the area Monday night through Tuesday night.
High pressure will briefly rebuild during the middle of the
week, before the next system arrives Friday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM THIS MORNING/...
Early this morning: Overall, quiet conditions through sunrise.
High pressure will remain in control and winds will veer from
northwesterly to become northeasterly by daybreak. Broad ridging
will build in aloft, and plentiful high clouds will continue to
stream in within the southwest flow. Lows are on track for low
30s inland, ranging to the mid and upper 30s closer to the
coast.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM THIS MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Cool surface high pressure will remain over the area on Monday,
though as the high shifts NE, low-level moisture will increase
across southern portions of the area later in the day. Extensive
high cirrus will continue streaming overhead. Highs will range
from mid 50s inland to lower 60s coastal GA.

A powerful closed upper low over the Central U.S. will shift
east Monday night while potent shortwave energy lifts northeast
through the local area. With the surface high remaining to our
northeast, the strengthening SE flow aloft will result in a warm
front lifting north. Moist isentropic ascent will overspread
the area late Monday evening and continuing through the night,
resulting in isolated to scattered showers. Monday night low
temps are expected to occur early in the evening, with temps
rising steadily through the remainder of the night.

Tuesday will be quite active with several potential hazards. A
strong cold front will sweep through the area late in the
afternoon or early evening, preceded by widespread showers and
isolated thunderstorms. Incredibly strong low-level wind fields
will develop on Tuesday given the strong dynamics with the
approaching storm system. A 60-70 kt 925 mb jet will spread
across the region Tuesday morning. Low-level shear parameters
will be nearly off the chart with 50-70 kt bulk shear, 600-700
m2/s2 of 0-3 km helicity, and 500-600 m2/s2 0-1 km helicity. As
is common in these situations across the Southeast, the
available instability is a question mark. Most guidance keeps
SBCAPE below 400 J/kg across the area Tuesday afternoon/evening,
which would limit the potential for severe thunderstorms.
However some guidance, most notably the 12Z NAM, shows late
afternoon destabilization across Colleton, Dorchester, Berkeley,
and Charleston counties, with SBCAPE potentially exceeding
1,000 J/kg. This could support some discrete supercells ahead of
the main convective line, and/or QLCS tornadoes embedded in the
line. SPC opted not to increase outlook probabilities over our
area with their Day 3 SWO update due to the uncertainty
regarding instability. We will continue to monitor the severe
thunderstorm potential.

The gradient wind fields are the other primary threat on
Tuesday. Although mixing depth will be limited due to a lack of
sunshine, mixing heights of 1.5-2 kft will still allow us to tap
into some of the 925 mb winds. Model guidance is quite bullish
with gradient winds Tuesday and Tuesday evening. 30-35 mph
sustained winds will be widespread across inland areas with
35-40 mph sustained winds in coastal zones. The wind gusts could
be quite impressive with 45-55 mph possible, highest closer to
the SC coast. The NBM is showing >50% chance for 60 mph wind
gusts along the Charleston County coast Tuesday afternoon. We
will definitely need a Wind Advisory for most if not all of the
area on Tuesday, and possibly a High Wind Watch for a few SC
coastal zones, if these probabilities persist as we get closer
to Tuesday.

Most areas should receive 1-2" of rainfall with this system on
Tuesday, then precip rapidly diminishes by late Tuesday evening
from west to east. Breezy conditions will continue into
Wednesday behind the front with highs in the low to mid 50s.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
High pressure will prevail Thursday, then another strong storm
system will bring showers and thunderstorms to the area Friday
through Saturday morning.

&&

.AVIATION /06Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
VFR conditions will prevail at KCHS, KJZI, and KSAV through 06z
Tuesday. Late in the period the potential for showers will
increase around KSAV. The arrival of showers at KCHS and KJZI
isn't expected until after the 06z TAF period.

Extended Aviation Outlook: A powerful storm system will bring
flight restrictions and strong winds to the area Monday night
through Tuesday night, with gusty winds persisting through
Wednesday.

.MARINE...
Tonight: Surface high pressure across the Deep South will track
northeast along the Appalachians and expand into the local
waters. This will result in west-northwest winds shifting out of
the northeast by sunrise Monday. Winds speeds will average 15
kt with gusts around 20 kt. Gusts could occasionally approach 25
kt at times, but we are not expecting conditions to warrant
Small Craft Advisories. Seas will decrease slightly, averaging
2-4 ft through the night.

Monday through Friday: NE gradient will increase late Monday
into Monday night before winds turn to the SSE around daybreak
Tuesday. Very strong wind fields are expected Tuesday through
Wednesday. Small Craft Advisory conditions start at varying
times Monday night with Gales expected by daybreak Tuesday,
continuing through much of Wednesday. We are showing several
hours of storm-force gusts (48 kt) over the SC nearshore and GA
offshore waters Tuesday afternoon and evening, so we may
eventually need a Storm Watch/Warning for these areas. For now,
we issued SCAs transitioning into Gale Watches for all marine
zones.

Conditions will slowly improve Wednesday through Wednesday
night behind the cold front as high pressure builds in. Another
storm system will arrive late in the week, but still some
disagreements between models regarding strength and timing.
Regardless, winds and seas will increase and another round of
Advisories will be possible.

High Surf: Large breaking waves are expected at the beaches
late Monday night into Wednesday morning as a strong storm
system impacts the region. High Surf Advisories could be needed.
These conditions could result in beach erosion.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
The high tide around daybreak Tuesday continues to be the main
tide of concern for the next couple days. Monday night winds
will increase out of the ENE, then shift to the SE and then SSE
by daybreak Tuesday while rapidly strengthening. Tidal anomalies
should be increasing through Monday night, though the strongest
winds are not expected to occur until several hours after high
tide. The southerly flow will not be as favorable for large
anomalies compared to the ENE winds we experienced during the
Dec Nor'easter. The surge guidance is quite varied for the
Tuesday morning high tide, with the ETSS showing +1.2 to +1.5 ft
while the PETSS ranges from +2.5 to +3.2. The PETSS numbers
seem fairly aggressive given the pattern, so we continue to
maintain forecast values a bit below that. This could result in
minor flooding along the GA coast and moderate flooding along
the SC coast. There still remains a risk for major flooding for
parts of Charleston and Colleton Counties. Additional changes
are likely as the event draws closer. Fortunately it looks like
the best chance for heavy rainfall will not be until Tuesday
afternoon.
