At 431 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Hopewell to Newtown, moving east at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

         siding, trees, and power lines is possible.

.SYNOPSIS...
A large low pressure system over Canada will send a few waves of low
pressure across our region into early next week. Among those, a weak
cold front is expected to cross our region Sunday into Sunday
evening, with widespread precipitation expected ahead of the front.
Broad, weak high pressure will build in mid week, before a trough
approaches our region at the end of next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Scattered showers and tstms have developed today with coverage so
far mostly across Delaware and up into SE PA to near Allentown. A
couple cells popping across south NJ too. The abundant heat and
humidity across the area contributing to the convection with local
effects helping to trigger the storms. I expect this convection to
linger with some heavy rains and gusty winds into the evening before
a slow decrease in activity later on. Overnight, an approaching
short wave will cause a resumption of convection. We expected more
heavy rains and gusty winds after midnight and into the pre-dawn
hours. Humid and very warm overnight with lows only in the 70s most
spots.

On Sunday, the weak low pressure area well to the NW early will move
across southern Canada and send a weak front across the area. This
front and the upper dynamics will act upon the humid/hot airmass
causing a widespread area of showers/tstms across the region. Right
now, it appears that there may be a round of rains during the
morning with a break for the late morning and early afternoon. More
widespread rains and tstms will probably be around for the afternoon
before ending from W to E during the evening. The additional rains
will promote possible further flooding Sunday, so the Flood Watch
will continue. Categorical/likely pops will diminish back to chance
pops late.

&&

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
A cold front will slide through on Sunday Night with showers quickly
tapering off into the overnight hours. Dry air advection will be
meager overall with dewpoints only dropping a few degrees. This will
result in some patchy fog developing as temperatures fall and
dewpoint depressions decrease. Otherwise, it should be a quiet night
with temperatures getting down into the upper 60s/low 70s.

Monday looks to be pretty quiet overall as it stands currently. High
pressure will nudge in from the southwest, and the area will be in
between two shortwaves to start the week. Temperatures will get into
the upper 80s/low 90s, making it a rather seasonable day. Dewpoints
look to be in the 60s as well, as we look to shake the tropical
airmass for at least a day.

As the mid and upper level low pushes towards James Bay, another
shortwave will approach our region for Tuesday. Looks to be an
active and unsettled afternoon. PWATs will again get near 2 inches
as steady south/southwesterly flow sets up, with dewpoints expected
to get into the 70s yet again. A cold front will approach the
region, with some showers and thunderstorms developing out ahead of
the front. Temperatures will be similar to Monday-in the upper
80s/low 90s.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Overall, the long term forecast remains largely unchanged. With the
strong mid/upper level trough remaining further north across Canada,
the main question remains timing of any short waves that may provide
greater chances for widespread rain across the region. The front
approaching the region on Tuesday will pass through the region
Tuesday night, though showers and storms may dissipate rapidly after
losing daytime heating. Latest guidance then depicts an initial
shortwave moving through the area Thursday night into Friday ahead
of a potentially stronger reinforcing front Friday night into
Saturday. Otherwise, a series of weak high pressures will largely be
in place for the middle part of the week. However, the subsidence
associated with these high pressures likely won't be quite strong
enough to completely suppress diurnal shower activity. Therefore,
PoPs remain in the 20 to 40 percent range for much of the area
throughout the long term.

Temperature wise, we continue to expect conditions to largely remain
within a couple degrees of normal through the long term period. If
the stronger reinforcing front does materialize as currently
forecast at the end of next week, then we may see temperatures fall
a few degrees below normal for the first time this month at some
locations.

.AVIATION /20Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas...

Tonight... A limited confid forecast with the models offering more
differences than similarities. Scattered showers/tstms this evening
will diminish after sunset then increase again later tonight. While
VFR is expected most of the time this evening, mostly sub-VFR after
rains start again. Thinking is that mostly MVFR CIGS/VSBYS with a
trend towards IFR late.

Sunday...  Mostly low conditions early then possibly some
improvement by late morning before more rains tstms during the
afternoon. Not much in the TAFs for tomorrow with low confid overall.
Winds South or Southwest 5 to 10 knots.

Outlook...

Sunday Night...sub-VFR conditions likely with showers and
thunderstorms continuing into part of the overnight hours with some
patchy fog developing late. Winds light and variable. Low
confidence.

Monday through Monday Night...VFR. Westerly winds around 5-10 kt
becoming south/southwesterly late in the day and overnight. Moderate
confidence.

Tuesday...VFR in the morning, with sub-VFR conditions possible in
the afternoon with showers and thunderstorms developing. Southerly
winds around 10 kt. Moderate confidence.

Wednesday...Mainly VFR. A few evening showers and thunderstorms
possible. Winds 5 to 10 kts. Moderate confidence.

Thursday...Mainly VFR. Restrictions possible with scattered
afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Southwest winds
around 5 to 10 kts. Moderate confidence.

.MARINE...
While winds and waves will remain below SCA levels tonight and
Sunday, scattered tstms will have localized higher seas and winds
thru the period. Winds will mostly be South over the waters with
some onshore component close to the land. Speeds will be mostly 10
to 15 knots tonight and Sunday. Gusts in the 20 to 25 kt range
possible thru the period. Seas mostly 3 to 4 ft for the ocean and
around 2 to 3 ft for Delaware Bay.

Outlook...

Monday through Monday Night...No marine headlines anticipated.
Northwest winds in the morning will become southerly in the
afternoon and evening, around 5-10 kt. Seas 3 to 4 feet.

15 kt, with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 3 to 4 feet. Showers and
thunderstorms possible late in the day on Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday...No marine headlines expected. Winds
generally around 10 knots with seas of 2 to 4 feet.

.HYDROLOGY...
A Flood Watch is in effect for all of our PA and NJ counties, with
New Castle County, DE included as well. A widespread 1 to 2 inches
of rain is expected for most of the region, with some locations in
northern NJ and eastern PA expected to see 2 to 2.5 inches of rain.
Locally higher amounts between 3 to 5 inches are possible. Taking
into account antecedent conditions, it will not take much for flash
flooding to occur, especially in northern NJ and eastern PA. There
remains potential for main-steam river flooding to occur due to
excessive runoff. Some rivers, primarily in northern NJ, are already
running high.

Hunterdon, southwestern Warren, north central Bucks and southeastern
Northampton Counties through 345 PM EDT...

At 308 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Ferndale, or 9 miles south of Easton, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Easton, Alpha, Ferndale, Milford, Bloomsbury, Riegelsville, Glendon,
Springtown, Revere and Phillipsburg.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 78 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 75 and 76.
 Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 13.
