The local office's own words before this wind advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS San Diego, CA wrote its last area forecast discussion before this wind advisory went out at Feb 1, 3:49 AM PST, 3 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Feb 1, 3:49 AM PST, 3 minutes before
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Diego CA
349 AM PST Tue Feb 1 2022

.SYNOPSIS...
Cloudy skies and cool conditions are expected for today as an
upper-level low approaches Southern California. Winds will
quickly turn offshore tonight as the low pressure system
progresses eastward, and periods of Santa Ana winds will occur
through Friday, with the strongest winds occurring on Wednesday
across the San Bernardino County Mountains and foothills and Santa
Ana Mountains. A slow warming trend will begin on Friday. A brief
break in offshore wind is expected on Saturday before Santa Ana
winds redevelop on Sunday.

&&

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

A closed upper-level low located to the northwest of San Diego is
being absorbed into the mean flow this morning, and longwave
troughing will take hold of the West Coast today. High-level
clouds will be abundant ahead of this system. A coastal eddy will
deepen the marine layer today with low clouds spreading farther
inland; this may lead to very patchy drizzle, though confidence
remains low in occurrence at this time. ECME MOS POP guidance has
decreased with the 00z model run and local hi-res guidance shows
a dry solution. High temperatures today will cool by several
degrees region-wide, ranging from 2 to 8 degrees below normal.

An intense shortwave will round the base of the trough this evening,
passing over Southern California after 06z Wed. Breezy west to
northwest winds will be possible over the mountains and deserts
slopes as this passage occurs, though winds will quickly turn
offshore late tonight into early Wednesday morning. The 00z ECMWF
EPS and GEFS are in stronger agreement with timing and intensity
of this shortwave and the subsequent offshore winds. The surface
pressure gradient will be oriented from north-south, supporting
the strongest winds across the San Bernardino County Mountains and
the Santa Ana Mountains. Northeast wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph can
be expected across these areas with isolated higher wind gusts
across wind-prone areas. Santa Ana winds will usher in warmer
conditions across the coast and valleys on Wednesday, while the
mountains and deserts cool noticeably.

Upper-level ridging will develop across the eastern Pacific
Wednesday as the trough axis progresses eastward through the
Great Basin and Rockies. This pattern will continue to be
supportive of Santa Ana winds through Friday with winds turning
more easterly. Winds will gradually subside across northern areas
during this time but may increase across east-west mountains and
slopes. A slow warming trend will set in on Friday through the
weekend. Winds look to briefly turn onshore on Saturday as a weak
shortwave moves through the Southwest before offshore winds
redevelop for Sunday and Monday.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Winds will turn offshore late this evening and quickly strengthen
early Wednesday morning. The strongest winds will occur across the
mountains and coastal slopes in San Bernardino County and Orange
County, with the highest winds occurring through the day on
Wednesday. Northeast wind gusts up to 55 mph are expected with
locally higher gusts possible across wind-prone areas. Minimum
relative humidity values may fall as low as 8-15% Wednesday
through Friday. Winds will briefly turn back onshore on Saturday
before Santa Ana winds redevelop for Sunday into early next week.

&&

.AVIATION...
011030Z...Areas of low clouds in coastal areas will continue today
with bases 2200-3500 feet MSL. Coverage random and intermittent, but
extending farther inland to coastal foothills tonight. Most vis will
remain unrestricted except where clouds locally obscure higher
terrain. BKN high clouds AOA 15000 feet MSL will continue to stream
across the region today, clearing tonight.

Strong northeast winds will begin after 08Z tonight below the Cajon
Pass, strengthening and becoming more widespread Wednesday. LLWS
west and south of mountains likely early Wednesday.

&&

.MARINE...
Wind gusts exceeding 25 knots Wednesday afternoon and evening could
lead to hazardous conditions for small craft. Otherwise, no
hazardous marine conditions are expected through Saturday.

&&

.SKYWARN...
Skywarn activation is not requested. However weather spotters are
encouraged to report significant weather conditions.
