A few strong to briefly severe thunderstorms will be possible
across Baca County this afternoon, with winds of 50 to 60 mph and
hail up to 1 inch possible.

Rain and high elevation snow showers will be develop by mid-
afternoon across the mountains, valleys and I-25 corridor, then
become widespread over much of the area this evening and
overnight. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible over the
region this afternoon and tonight, with lightning, gusty winds,
and some small hail the main storm risks. Accumulating snowfall
is expected over the higher peaks today and tonight. Heavy snow is
likely over the crest of the Sangre De Cristo Range, the summit
of Pikes Peak and the higher portions of the Wet Mountains,
generally above 10000 feet with some lighter accumulations down
to 8500 feet.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Additional light to moderate snow accumulations will be possible
over the higher peaks of the southeast Colorado mountains on
Tuesday, as showers and thunderstorms continue across the region
behind a passing weather system. The main threats from storms
would be lightning and locally heavy rainfall.

Warmer and drier conditions are expected to return to all of south
central and southeast Colorado through the middle of the work week,
with breezy conditions and chances of afternoon showers and storms
returning for Friday and into the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.
The warm and breezy conditions will lead to increasing fire danger
once again, especially for the southwest mountains and into the
San Luis Valley.
