.SYNOPSIS...
Surface high pressure will build offshore Saturday as a weak
stationary front lingers across parts of Delmarva. At the same time,
weak low pressure aloft will track across the area. The front could
linger across the Delmarva on Sunday as well. Another cold front is
forecast to slowly approach the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday and
settle across our area Monday night and Tuesday. The front may
dissipate in place on Wednesday. The next cold front is forecast to
arrive later on Thursday. Surface high pressure will build in behind
the front on Friday.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
A stationary front is located over the far southern parts of the
forecast area along to just south of the southern Delaware/Maryland
border and further west through Maryland. A weak wave of low
pressure moving a long the front is helping to lift the front ever
so slightly northward this afternoon, but little change in the
position of the front is expected overall. We had some thicker high
clouds this morning in association with a departing upper-level jet
entrance region, but this has moved off to our north and east.

A few scattered airmass thunderstorms are occurring this afternoon
along weak convergent zones associated with sea/bay breezes over
central Delaware and southern New Jersey in the vicinity of the
front. With SB CAPE values from 1000 to 2000 J/kg and little to no
convective inhibition, any weak forcing is helping to initiate these
weak cells and the severe threat is low, though non-zero. With LL
shear on the weak side (0-3 km bulk shear generally 20 knots or
less), cells are not staying organized. With weak storm motion
around 10 knots or less, locally heavy downpours will occur in the
stronger cells. Generally, rainfall amounts should stay around a
quarter of an inch, but locally higher amounts of half to even one
inch are possible. The best instability is mostly south and east of
I-95, especially over far southern New Jersey and into Delmarva
closer to the stationary front to our south.

Highs today will inch upward another degree or two into the mid to
upper 80s. Dew points still aren't particularly impressive for this
time of year, though they will trend upwards into tomorrow as the
surface flow turns more from the east to southeast into the mid to
upper 60s. Lows tonight will stay mild into the upper 60s to around
70 over the urban corridor.

Wash rinse, and repeat tomorrow, though convective coverage will
likely be a little more expansive with a stronger shortwave impulse
with a stronger vorticity maximum moving out of the Ohio Valley into
the Mid-Atlantic. Dew points will also inch higher with the more
pronounced southeasterly flow. This will lead to slightly larger
CAPE values, so a severe storm or two cannot be entirely ruled out,
along with a local hydro threat with PWATs from 1.5 to 2 inches and
weak storm motion once again. Highs will be similar to today, though
just a degree or two cooler with added cloud cover in the low to mid
80s.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
This period starts with the same weak pesky front draped in the
vicinity of Delmarva or it drifting northward before dissipating.
Aloft, a quick hitting shortwave ridge should move west to east
across the region. On Monday, a trough deepens over the Great Lakes
and shifts northeast. At the surface, a cold front will approach
from the west and likely move into portions of the forecast area
Monday night.

Chance Pops are in the forecast for Sunday with likely PoPs in there
for Monday. We'll need to keep an eye on chances for convective-
driven heavy rain.

Afternoon highs will be similar each day and considered normal for
this time of year...some mid to upper 70s across the far NW zones
warming to the mid to upper 80s elsewhere. Overnight lows will be in
the mid 60s to lower 70s.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
While PoPs for the mid-week period, Tuesday and Wednesday inclusive,
are not zero for everyone, they are lower than Monday as more of a
mid-level zonal flow or even some weak ridging builds in.

Temperatures will warm on Tuesday and warm further on Wednesday.
Currently, it looks like afternoon highs on Wednesday across the
warmest locales will top out in the mid 90s with heat indices around
100 degrees.

For Thursday, a cold front will be arriving later in the day. The
heat and humidity will remain ahead of the front. Another day with
heat indices around 100 across the warmest locales.

High pressure builds in on Friday as the flow aloft becomes
northwest. Heat indices will be 5 to 10 degrees lower compared to
those on Wednesday and Thursday.

.AVIATION /20Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Rest of today...Mostly VFR with sub-VFR restrictions possible with
scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially at MIV and ACY this
afternoon and evening. Winds from the east-southeast from 5 to 10
knots. Moderate confidence.

Tonight...Mostly VFR at RDG and ABE, and TTN, with MVFR CIGs
possible at the Philly terminals and likely at MIV and ACY due to
onshore easterly flow. Patchy fog also possible. Light easterly
winds 5 knots or less, variable at times. Moderate confidence.

Saturday...MVFR to possible IFR from the Philly terminals south to
MIV and ACY with low CIGs and patchy fog. Mostly VFR conditions into
the late morning and afternoon, though scattered showers and
thunderstorms will be possible once again, a little more expansive
in coverage than today. Winds from 5 to 10 knots from the southeast.
Moderate confidence.

Outlook...

Sunday...Patchy low clouds/fog possible in the early morning. Some
showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening.
Both the fog and showers/thunderstorms could cause restrictions to
ceilings and visibility. Outside of the fog and showers, VFR can be
expected. Southerly winds 5 to 10 kts, diminishing at night. Low
confidence.

Monday...Patchy fog possible in the early morning. Showers and
thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening. Sub-VFR
conditions looking likely. Southwesterly winds 5-15 kts. Moderate
confidence.

Tuesday...A stray shower or thunderstorm possible, otherwise VFR.
Southwest to west winds 5-15 kts. Moderate confidence.

Wednesday...A stray shower or thunderstorm possible, otherwise VFR.
Southwest winds 5-15 kts. Moderate confidence.

.MARINE...
No marine headlines are expected through Saturday with winds out of
the southeast from 5 to 10 knots with gusts generally around 15
knots, locally stronger in scattered showers and thunderstorms. Seas
around 2 to 3 feet.

Outlook...

Saturday night through Sunday night...Sub-SCA conditions. S to SW
winds, mainly 5 to 10 kts. Gusts up to 15 kt Sunday afternoon
and night. Seas 2 to 3 ft.

Monday through Wednesday...Sub-SCA conditions. S to SW winds, mainly
10 to 15 kts. Gusts up to 20 kt each afternoon and evening. Seas 3
to 4 ft.

Rip currents...

East to southeast winds around 10 mph into this evening. Breaking
waves will be 1 to 2 feet with a medium period south to east swell.
Due to the onshore flow in combination with the large tidal range
associated with the full moon, we will continue to carry a MODERATE
risk for the development of dangerous rip currents for the remainder
of today into this evening. The greatest potential for rip currents
should be around the afternoon low tide.

A southeast wind 5 to 10 mph is forecast for Saturday. Breaking
waves are expected to be around 1 foot with a medium period
southeast to east swell. There is a LOW risk for rip currents on
Saturday.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
We will continue to keep an eye on this evening's high tide. The
onshore flow today should keep tidal departures in the +0.4 to +0.6
foot range. As a result, another round of spotty minor tidal
flooding is expected for this evening in the coastal counties of
Delaware and New Jersey, and along Delaware Bay.

The astronomical high tide levels will be on the decrease this
weekend as we continue to move away from the full moon. The
potential for spotty minor tidal flooding will also be on the wane.
