At 352 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 10 miles southwest of Hickory to 6 miles southwest of
Morganton to 8 miles south of Marion, moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind 
         damage to trees and power lines.

Locations impacted include...
Valdese, Spindale, Maiden, Icard, Hildebran, Connelly Springs,
Rutherford College, Belwood, Bostic and Casar.

The storms which prompted the warning have moved out of the area.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with these thunderstorms.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for
the Piedmont of North Carolina.

.SYNOPSIS...
A cold front and weak low pressure moves south of our area tonight
and Tuesday and the front becomes stationary.  Moisture will
increase as low pressure approaches from the northwest by the
weekend. Temperatures will be below normal especially through the
middle of the week. Chances for rain will continue each day.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 210 PM EDT Monday: Latest CAMs and synoptic guidance suggest
the forecast looks on track. Convection moving into the mountains at
this time will spread southeast across the area through the
afternoon. Best coverage will be from the northern mountains to the
CLT Metro area and east, with more isolated coverage over the
southwestern NC mountains, western Upstate, and NE GA. Latest
mesoanalysis shows increasing mlCAPE as skies have scattered out and
heating taking place. Quite a bit of DCAPE across the area as well.
Deep layer shear remains strongest over NC and the eastern Upstate
but has increased to the west. A weak, diffuse boundary remains over
the area, but helicity values have dropped. Sill, the supercell
composite shows they are possible this afternoon, so this combined
with the boundary keeps a low end tornado threat is place. Overall
severe chances from SPC still look good as well. The storms are
showing good movement, but are efficient rainfall producers. Should
storms train over the same area, then isolated flooding would be
possible.

Convection lingers into early evening then moves east of the area as
a cold front crosses the area. Northeasterly flow develops behind
the front and low level moisture surges in from the northeast.
Expect low clouds to overspread the area and be over most locations
by daybreak. Patchy fog is possible as well. Lows will be near to
slightly below normal.

Northeasterly flow and low clouds will start out over the area
Tuesday. The clouds should begin to scatter and lift from SW to NE
across the CWFA with the NC foothills and Piedmont holding onto low
clouds the longest. Scattered showers are expected to develop across
the area for the afternoon. Very little in the way of instability
develops but can't rule out a rumble of thunder or two. Highs will be
around 5 degrees below normal for the mountains, NE GA, and the
western Upstate. Highs will be around 10 degrees below normal
elsewhere.

.SHORT TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
As of 200 pm EDT Monday: A stalled front will persist south of the
region Tuesday night through Wednesday, with mainly northerly flow
at low-levels across the area north of the front and west of a
departing coastal low pressure center. The flow will become more
easterly with time and this will lead to more abundant clouds, a
smaller than climatology diurnal range on temperatures, and limited
instability. Meanwhile, an upper jetlet stretching across the Ohio
River Valley and the Mid-Atlantic region will keep upper-level
divergence in place atop the area from Tuesday night through
Wednesday night. The 500 mb trough will amplify over the Ohio Valley
and send vorticity lobes across the southern Appalachians and
surrounding areas. Despite the limited instability, the combination
of decent upper dynamics and moist easterly flow at low levels will
permit fairly solid likely west to chance east PoPs on Wednesday.

The best upper-level divergence will slide east of the area on
Thursday, but with a trough axis lingering west of the Appalachians
to keep conditions unsettled. The moist easterly flow conditions
will persist, once again limiting maximum temperatures and
instability, but contributing to another round of chance to likely
diurnal PoPs, with the best focus in southwest sections. Maximum
temperatures may run near 10 degrees below climo Wed/Thu.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 315 pm EDT Monday: A broad trough axis will persist west of
the Appalachian mountain chain on Friday, with an upstream closed
low developing southeastward from the northern Plains and upper
Midwest. This will sharpen upstream height falls through the
weekend. Meanwhile, surface high pressure to the north of our area
will steadily weaken through the period, with moisture increasing
gradually in profiles. This will lead to a steady, diurnal dose of
showers and thunderstorms each day as the the closed upper low over
the Midwest slowly opens up over the Great Lakes Sunday into Monday.
Temperatures will slowly rebound to above climo mins and just below
climo maxes through the Friday to Monday period.

.AVIATION /19Z MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
At KCLT and elsewhere: MVFR cigs hanging tough at KHKY with VFR
elsewhere. Convection moving into the mountains as this time, so
have TEMPO at KHKY and VCTS at KAVL. KCLT still has a good chance
for convection, but timing is slightly later than previously
expected. Chance is low enough to remove from the SC sites, but
amendments may be needed if coverage ends up greater than expected
there. Low end gusts possible outside of convection this afternoon.
The convection moves east late this evening. Winds turn
northeasterly and low level moisture surges back into the area.
Expect MVFR then IFR cigs to develop overnight. KAND will likely
remain MVFR but IFR is possible. Vsby restrictions most likely at
KAVL and KHKY. Low cigs will continue through at least noon and
likely longer for KHKY and KCLT. Scattered showers will develop by
afternoon with NE winds continuing through the day.

Outlook: Periods of low cigs/fog and showers are expected through
much of the week. Better chances for rain and restrictions appear
likely late in the week.

miles west of Lenoir, or 8 miles north of Table Rock, moving
southeast at 20 mph.
