...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM CDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN JONES AND NORTHWESTERN CLINTON COUNTIES...
    
At 318 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Oxford Junction, or 12 miles southwest of Maquoketa,
moving east at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

Locations impacted include...
Lost Nation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
Therefore, the warning has been allowed to expire.

Stacked upper low easily seen on visible satellite movie loops
right over eastern Iowa. With the atmosphere rotating there have
been several brief tornado touchdowns and funnel clouds. At mid
afternoon the line of scattered severe storms was pushing east of
the MS River.

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Sunday)
Issued at 300 PM CDT Sat Aug 20 2022

Tonight: CAM's shows the scattered line of storms to move east of
the dvn cwa by 00z (7 pm). Then any lingering showers will end in
our eastern cwa by late evening. Overnight, skies should remain
mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 60s.

Sunday: A much quieter day as the storm system pushes off to our
east and the latest model guidance suggests any wrap-around
showers will remain just to the east of the cwa. Therefore will go
with a dry forecast. Partly sunny skies can be expected with highs
in the mid 70s to near 80.

.LONG TERM...(Sunday night through Saturday)

Key messages:

1) Pleasant and dry stretch of weather early to mid week.

2) A chance of showers and thunderstorms return late in the week.

Monday through Wednesday: Northwest flow aloft and high pressure
at the surface will bring a delightful stretch of weather.
Temperatures will be about normal with highs mainly in the upper
70s to lower 80s and lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Thursday through Saturday: Global models indicate a bit more
active pattern but differ quite a bit on timing of disturbances.
So for now pops remain less than 30 percent. Highs ranging from
the upper 70s to mid 80s, and lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

A strong upper low will track into the area with scattered
thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening, mainly between
noon and 7 pm. There is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms
especially in portions of extreme eastern Iowa, and northwest and
western Illinois.

The primary risks are large hail, damaging winds, and flash
flooding. There is also the potential for a few tornadoes.

The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

southeastern Bureau Counties through 145 PM CDT...

At 103 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
McNabb, or near Hennepin, moving northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
  Granville around 120 PM CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Island, northwestern Henry and southeastern Scott Counties through
300 PM CDT...

At 216 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Rock Island, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
  Moline and Riverdale around 235 PM CDT.

Other locations in the path of this storm include East Moline,
Silvis, Coal Valley, Hampton, Orion, Warner, Colona and Cleveland.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 74 in Iowa between mile markers 2 and 5.
 Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 304 and 306.
 Interstate 80 in Illinois between mile markers 1 and 10.
 Interstate 74 in Illinois between mile markers 1 and 20.
 Interstate 88 near mile marker 1.
 Interstate 280 between mile markers 10 and 18.
