.SYNOPSIS...Strong storm has moved northeast of Wrangel Island
this morning with Storm Force Winds in the Chukchi Sea and Bering
Strait that will be moving into the southwest Arctic. Warnings and
Advisories remain in effect for most of the West Coast. Coastal
Flooding expected today and tonight as the water levels rise, peak
water levels expected tonight and early Friday morning for most
locations. Winds will diminish some over the west coast on Friday
and then the north slope on Saturday.

.DISCUSSION...Aloft...At 500 hpa...A strong shortwave will move
over the West Coast this morning and northeast across the Arctic
this afternoon. The 493 dam low has moved northeast of Wrangel
Island and merge with another 487 dam low on Saturday. Strong west
southwestly flow will continue over the state through Saturday.
Another shortwave willl move across the state Saturday and Sunday.

At 850 hpa...AS heights aloft fall cooler temperatures will
stream in from the west. The 0C isotherm will move to lie from
Demarcation Point to Cape Newenham by Friday morning with
temperatures around +2C to the southeast of it. By Saturday
morning the 0C isotherm will lie from Eagle to Denali then
southwest with temperatures around +2C hanging on over the
Southeast Interior.

Arctic Coast and Brooks Range...High Wind Warnings and
coastal flood warnings continue for areas from Utqiagvik west.
Winds mainly offshore, south to southwest at 15 to 40 mph with the
strongest winds from Utqiagvik west where winds gusts around 60
mph are expected along the coast and across the Western Brooks
Range. Winds will diminish some Saturday morning. High
temperatures today in the 40s, and Friday in the 30s. Low
temperatures tonight in the mid 20s to lower 30s.

West Coast and Western Interior...Weather front is moving inland
today as the strong low near Wrangel Island moves north into the
Arctic. The strong low is producing some storm surge and Coastal
Flood Warnings and Advisories are still in effect. Strong south
winds will be turning from the southwest behind the front today
and from the west Friday. Winds 25 to 45 mph gusting to 65 mph
this morning will slowly diminish through the day on Friday. High
temperatures today and Friday in the 40s. Low temperatures tonight
will be in the 30s to around 40.

Central and Eastern Interior...Increasing clouds through the day
with some isolated showers in the afternoon becoming scattered to
numerous overnight tonight. Winds southeast to southwest at 5 to
15 mph, except for the Alaska Range passes and around Delta
Junction where winds are south at 25 to 40 mph gusting to 65 mph
diminishing in the evening. looking into the weekend a potential
for a mix of rain and snow for the Interior on Sunday. Turning
colder as the front moves through late Sunday night into Monday.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...A rapidly moving low will
approach the Lower Yukon Delta Coast Monday with some minor storm
surge possible and a period of elevated surf from Norton Sound
south.

Extended forecast for days 4 to 7...A rapidly moving low will move
across the Bering Sea to Nunivak Island Monday spreading
precipitation up the West Coast to the Bering Strait and Inland to
the Middle Yukon Valley.
