The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 244
continues.
SUMMARY...Severe threat continues across all but northwestern
portions of ww244.
DISCUSSION...Earlier convection that developed near MBG, due to
intense surface heating, has propagated into southeast ND where new
thunderstorms are now maturing into a larger cluster in the
Jamestown vicinity. This activity appears to be growing upscale in
part due to strengthening low-level inflow impinging on a boundary
that is draped across southeast ND. 00z sounding from ABR exhibited
substantial CAPE with steep lapse rates supportive of robust
updrafts capable of generating large hail and damaging winds. If
these trends continue, a small MCS could form and propagate into
northwest MN along the most-favored corridor of low-level warm
advection.
