The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 156
continues.
SUMMARY...Wind damage and hail will be likely across parts of
northeast Kansas and western Missouri over the next hour.
DISCUSSION...Latest surface analysis shows a 996 mb low over
southern Kansas with a warm front extending eastward into western
and southern Missouri. A bowing line segment is currently located
just to the north of the front and is moving quickly
east-southeastward at 50 to 55 knots across northeast Kansas. The
line is located on the northern edge of a 50 to 60 kt low-level jet.
As the low-level jet strengthens early tonight, the severe threat
with the line will be maintained. Damaging wind gusts can be
expected as it moves across the Kansas City Metro over the next
hour. Hail will also be likely with the stronger cores embedded in
the line.
