.SYNOPSIS...A weather system moves through the area today and
Friday with lowland rain and mountain snow. Another weather
system will affect the region Sunday and Monday. Precipitation
could be heavy at times Sunday night and Monday. An upper trough
will keep showery weather over the region next Tuesday and then
a brief break in the weather is possible for Wednesday.

.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...There are no updates this
morning, a front will move through Western Washington today. The
associated very deep low in the 960s is north of Haida Gwaii and
the front is stretched awfully far and looks a little splitty.
The heavier rain is going into Oregon today. A trough will follow
on Friday, but the heavier precip with that and a possible sfc
low center that develops stay well south of our area through Fri
night. Showery weather continues Friday night and Saturday, and
then the air stabilizes later on Saturday as a warm front nears
the region. 19
.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...The main feature for
Sunday into early next week is an atmospheric river system. Models
and their ensembles in decent agreement with moisture plume
directed toward Vancouver Island and western BC on Sunday, before
slowly shifting south and weakening on Monday into early Tuesday.
This will bring decent widespread rainfall to Western Washington
with rising snow levels (though still on the order of 4000-5000
feet by Monday so not super warm by AR standards). Given fast
moving nature of AR plume, this should help to mitigate widespread
hydro concerns, though will continue to monitor ensemble trends as
axis has been shifting quite a bit over the past several days.
Upper level troughing takes hold of the area for Tuesday into
Wednesday as ridging rebuilds over the Eastern Pacific. This
should signal slightly cooler temperatures and additional chances
for precipitation though details are shaky at this time.

.AVIATION...Westerly flow aloft as a system approaches the area. VFR
early this morning with high clouds. Rain associated with the
incoming front has started to fall in portions of west Puget Sound
and will continue to spread inland through the morning. Cigs will be
VFR at the onset of the rain with MVFR cigs for most by 21-22z. IFR
possible at times this afternoon into tonight. Rain at times late
this morning through the day. Winds will be light southeasterly for
most this morning and transition to southerly and increase this
afternoon. A few wind gusts of 20 knots possible late today into
tonight.
KSEA...VFR cigs through this morning. Rain will increase at the site
from 17-18z, with rain into the afternoon. MVFR cigs expected by
early afternoon with MVFR through tonight. Winds will be
southeasterly 4 to 8 knots this morning, southerly winds increasing
to 10 to 14 knots this afternoon, gusts to 20 knots.

.MARINE...Winds will increase through this morning as the next
front moves through the area. Gales expected for the coastal waters,
eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca, and northern inland waters. Small
Craft Advisory winds elsewhere through today. SCA winds tonight for
most waters with Small Craft winds through Friday for the coast.
Another system will approach the area Saturday night into Sunday for
increasing winds. Swells of 5 to 11 feet through today will increase
on Friday to 10 to 14 feet.

.HYDROLOGY...Wet weather pattern expected Thursday through early
next week, with the heaviest precipitation potentially Sunday into
Monday. A rise on the rivers is expected and though widespread
flooding is not forecast at this time, the Skokomish River could
potentially reach minor flood stage on Monday. There is
uncertainty in the forecast, specifically on the exact QPF amounts
and snow levels. This will need to be monitored.
