...HEAT ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

Forecast temperature guidance has trended slightly cooler for high
temperatures over the next several days, with highs now expected
to generally top out in the 90 to 95 degree range. These values
are closer to what we normally see during our hotter summer
periods in southeast Idaho, thus the Heat Advisory has been
cancelled. However, long-duration heat is still expected for the
next week or longer with high temperatures above 90 degrees at
lower elevations and relatively poor overnight relief. Basic heat
precautions are still advised, especially for those working or
recreating outdoors and heat-sensitive groups.

The local office's own words before this heat advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pocatello ID
334 AM MDT Sat Jun 26 2021

.SHORT TERM...Today through Monday. High pressure starts building
in from the northwest today. Northeast flow develops across the
area, especially the Snake Plain. A lake wind advisory for
northeast winds is in effect for today. Temperatures will start
rising each day as the high pressure continues to build in. Monday
will start the real heat across the area that will stay all week
and even into next weekend. This will be one of the hottest, if
not hottest period, that our area has ever seen. Multiple high
temperature records will likely be met next week. An excessive
heat watch is in effect for our eastern areas on Monday and most
of the rest of our area starting Tuesday.
Wyatt

.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday. This time period will be
the heart of the heat wave. This has been well advertised and
models remain pretty consistent with the overall depiction of the
event. To remain somewhat consistent with previous shifts, we did
some blending of the extended period max and min temperatures with
NBM 90%, which effectively raised values by a degree or two in
most areas. We aren't forecasting all time record highs at this
time, but that remains in the realm of possibilities. An Excessive
Heat watch is out starting Monday. Will likely have a some
Excessive Heat warnings out during the next week, especially in
the eastern Magic Valley. The ridge weakens a bit by next Sunday
as a short wave is progged to finally ride over the ridge, but
this will likely only bring a slight relief in temperatures.
Crawford

&&

.AVIATION...Conditions will be VFR throughout the TAFs. A lack of
showers and storms to contend with in Saturday's forecast will
keep the TAFs simple with only winds to consider, which will have
a northwest to northeast component.
Crawford

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...There is just a slight chance of thunderstorms on
the Wyoming line late this afternoon. Otherwise, expect warming
and dry conditions today that will continue through the coming
week as strong high pressure starts to build into the area. There
will be breezy northeast winds today and tomorrow as this high
pressure builds in. Record heat is expected by Tuesday and will
continue this coming week. Expect very dry conditions with poor
overnight humidity recovery this coming week. Haines index will
rise to 5, possibly 6, by Wednesday and Thursday. Models are still
suggesting a slight chance of thunderstorms by late next week.
