Northeast flow develops across the area, especially the Snake Plain. A lake wind advisory for northeast winds is in effect for today. Temperatures will start rising each day as the high pressure continues to build in. Monday will start the real heat across the area that will stay all week and even into next weekend. This will be one of the hottest, if not hottest period, that our area has ever seen. Multiple high temperature records will likely be met next week. An excessive heat watch is in effect for our eastern areas on Monday and most of the rest of our area starting Tuesday. Wyatt .LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday. This time period will be the heart of the heat wave. This has been well advertised and models remain pretty consistent with the overall depiction of the event. To remain somewhat consistent with previous shifts, we did some blending of the extended period max and min temperatures with NBM 90%, which effectively raised values by a degree or two in most areas. We aren't forecasting all time record highs at this time, but that remains in the realm of possibilities. An Excessive Heat watch is out starting Monday. Will likely have a some Excessive Heat warnings out during the next week, especially in the eastern Magic Valley.
