* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Water levels will be on the decrease on
Monday, with no additional flooding anticipated.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to
costly repairs.

Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at
water.weather.gov/ahps for additional water level and flood
impact information for your local tide gauge.

What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this coastal flood advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Philadelphia/Mount Holly wrote its last area forecast discussion before this coastal flood advisory went out at Oct 30, 3:43 PM EDT, 58 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Oct 30, 3:43 PM EDT, 58 minutes before
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
343 PM EDT Sat Oct 30 2021

.SYNOPSIS...
Low pressure will lift north across New England overnight and into
toward Quebec on Sunday. High pressure will build slowly into the
region through next week locking a cool and dry airmass across the
area through the end of the week. A weak system will pass across the
region on Tuesday with a weak frontal boundary pushing through the
area Tuesday night. Another system may impact the region late in the
week or early next weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY/...
It's been a very active week across the Mid-Atlantic and it sure
feels nice to see the sun out there today.

The upper low continues to spin across the Middle Appalachians as it
slowly pivots to the north and east and into New England on Sunday.
The developing coastal low at the surface move northward into Long
Island/eastern Massachusetts tonight, slightly moving to the
northwest early Sunday before pulling away to the north into Canada.

Energy rotating around the mid/upper level low has sparked off some
showers this afternoon, but they are expected to be light and fairly
quick moving. Showers will mainly be confined to New Jersey,
rotating up through northern New Jersey and into the southern
Poconos as the low moves into New England overnight. Expect Sunday
to be a mostly dry day across the forecast area.

Southerly winds this afternoon will become light overnight and then
turn to the west-southwest on Sunday. Winds may be a little bit gusty on
Sunday but not anywhere near what we had on Friday.

Temperatures will fall into the mid 40s to lower 50s across the
region tonight. There may be some light fog that develops in any
places that had rain today. Temperatures on Sunday will warm back
into the 60s through much of the region with some 50s remaining
across the southern Poconos and higher elevations.

&&

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
The short term period begins Sunday night with the sizable mid-
level wave responsible for the late week system finally lifting
north across New England and into southeastern Canada into Monday.
With a closed upper low remaining in place just south of the Hudson
Bay, a strong mid-level jet streak is expected to develop in the
aforementioned system's wake from the Great Lakes toward New England
(just to our north). Fortunately, our area will be in the subsidence
region of this feature and thus fair weather and mostly clear skies
are expected to prevail on Monday. At the surface, high pressure
will be slowly building into the region through this period. The
zonal flow will help usher in lower dewpoints and more seasonable
conditions in this period as well. Expect highs in the upper 50s to
low 60s Monday with lows dropping into the upper 30s to around 40
degrees Monday night.

The jet streak will pivot eastward by late Monday resulting in an
increase in cloud cover Monday night and into the daytime hours on
Tuesday. Meanwhile, a mid-level shortwave trough and associated weak
frontal boundary are expected to move quickly toward the area from
the Great Lakes region and thus a few isolated showers may develop.
The moisture return ahead of this feature is rather limited and the
airmass in place will be largely of continental origin, thus I think
most will stay dry for Tuesday and Tuesday evening. The shortwave
trough axis and front will pass across the area late Tuesday
resulting in a return of cold air advection and below normal
temperatures. Highs Tuesday are forecast to peak in the 50s for most
with lows dropping into the 30s Tuesday night.

Tuesday night will be the first real widespread threat of
frost/freeze conditions we've seen so far this season. The front
should be offshore in time to clear out most of the area in the pre-
dawn hours, especially farther north. Lack of a strong gradient
should thus result in light winds and conditions favorable for frost
formation, primarily for the I-78 corridor and points north. The
southern Poconos should be on track to experience their first freeze
Tuesday night. Long story short, frost/freeze headlines will likely
be needed Tuesday night.

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Cold air advection will continue into Wednesday as broad high
pressure builds across the Great Lakes region. This combined with
modest zonal flow aloft will keep fair weather and below normal
temperatures locked in place through at least Thursday. Expect high
temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s for Wednesday and Thursday
with lows falling well into the 30s away from the immediate coasts.

Wednesday night has the potential for a widespread freeze north/west
of I-95 and possibly for the Pine Barrens, but there will likely be
widespread frost in these areas as well. The coldest night looks to
be Wednesday night currently, but Thursday night also has potential
for at least a widespread frost event.

Guidance solutions diverge quickly beyond Thursday. The big question
is how a southern stream wave will interact with the northern stream
into the late week period and whether or not a cutoff low develops
across the Mississippi Valley. Friday and Saturday could end up
largely cool and dry if the cutoff does not occur, but if it does,
we could see a fairly robust system develop in the Mid-Atlantic
resulting in widespread precip. Forecast uncertainty remains high
for Friday and beyond.

&&

.AVIATION /20Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE,
KRDG, KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Rest of today...Mainly VFR conditions expected. Some MVFR cigs may
move through KACY, KMIV, and possibly KTTN as some showers move
through the area. Southerly winds around 10 knots this afternoon
will drop off this evening becoming light and variable. Moderate
confidence.

Tonight...Mainly VFR conditions expected. KRDG and KABE may drop to
MVFR late tonight in fog/low cigs. Light and variable winds.
Moderate confidence.

Sunday...Mainly VFR conditions expected. Any lingering MVFR at KABE
and KRDG expected to clear by 15Z. West-southwest winds around 10 to
15 knots with gusts around 20 knots possible through the afternoon.
High confidence.

Outlook...

Sunday night through Monday night...VFR. West to northwesterly winds
around 5-15 kts during the daytime hours becoming 5 kts or less
Monday night. High confidence.

Tuesday through Tuesday night...Sub-VFR ceilings possible during the
daytime along with some isolated showers, otherwise prevailing VFR.
Winds westerly around 5-10 kts, becoming 5 kts or less at night.
Moderate confidence.

Wednesday through Thursday...VFR. Northwesterly winds around 5-10
kts. High confidence.

&&

.MARINE...
Small Craft Advisory conditions continue on the ocean waters. Seas
remain elevated, around 7 to 9 feet this afternoon and will start to
subside tonight and Sunday. Seas are expected to remain above or
near 5 feet through the period.

South to southeast winds this afternoon will become south to
southwest overnight and then west southwest on Sunday. Winds will
generally be around 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots through
the day on Sunday.

Wind speeds and wave heights will remain below Small Craft Advisory
criteria through Sunday on the Delaware Bay.

Outlook...

Advisory conditions appear likely to start the short term period
Sunday night with seas up to 5 feet and northwesterly winds gusting
20-25 kts. Therefore, we've extended the advisory through Sunday
night with today's update. Seas will linger around 3-4 feet for
much of Monday, then expect seas of mostly 2-3 feet with
northwesterly winds around 10-15 kts through Thursday.

&&

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
Some adjustments to the coastal flood flags was required after
running the latest TWL fcsts. Water levels will probably remain
high enough during the next tide cycles to keep the Coastal
Warning for the tidal Delaware, the back bays of Ocean and SE
Burlington County and the eastern shore of the Chesapeake. Water
levels will relax across Delaware Bay and the coastal DE waters
and much of srn NJ waters so advisory levels will occur there.
