At 418 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to 
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
shortly in the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Philadelphia, Trenton, Camden, New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, 
  Somerset, Edison, Cherry Hill, Old Bridge, Bensalem, East 
  Brunswick, and South Brunswick.

.SYNOPSIS...
A cold front will cross the region later today. High pressure
will become established over the Western Atlantic over the
weekend and will remain in place through the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Clouds thinning out and breaking up over the area, allowing
temps to rise into the mid and upper 70s across much of the
region. Temps are a few degrees cooler in the mountains and
along the coasts. Surface dew points are well in the 60s, even
around 70 in many locations. PWATs across the region generally
range from 1.4-1.6 inches.

With the building heat and humidity, SB CAPE values have risen
to 2000-2500 J/kg, and DCAPE values are 300-500 J/kg.

The base of an upper trough now lies from central New York down
into eastern Pennsylvania, and a weakening surface trough is
moving through eastern Pennsylvania as well. An area of showers
and thunderstorms is now over the southern Poconos and Lehigh
Valley. These storms are not moving fast, as latest LAPS
guidance showing winds from 1000-850 mb are pretty much less
than 10 kt. Once that upper trough/surface trough combo picks
up, those storms will track east, and these storms should pass
through the region during the early evening hours. CAMS guidance
is fairly consistent with these storms offshore between 7pm-
9pm.

0-6 km Bulk Shear will be less than 30 kt. CAPE values may
bubble up a bit higher over the next couple of hours, but the
2500 J/kg range looks good. Locally heavy rain and gusty winds
will be the primary threat, though a few severe storms cannot be
ruled out.

Behind exiting trough, high pressure builds in from the west.
Skies clear out tonight. Behind this trough is not much in the
way of cooler and drier air, and with winds becoming nearly
calm, the air mass will become stagnant overnight. Especially in
areas where rain fall, there is the chance for fog to develop.
Will add patchy fog to the forecast throughout.

On Saturday, a hot air mass builds into the region from the
west. Surface dew points in the morning will generally be in the
mid to upper 60s, but west winds pick up in the afternoon,
gusting to 20 mph or so. This should allow for some mixing and
for dew points to drop into the upper 50s/low 60s. Highs will be
around 90 in most locations, except cooler in the southern
Poconos, and along the immediate coasts. With the lowering dew
points in the afternoon around the time of peak heating, heat
index values will not be much higher than the actual air temp.

.SHORT TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
While there will be little to no cloud cover heading through
Saturday night, overnight lows will remain warm in the southwest
flow dropping into the mid to upper 60s.

On Sunday, the flow deepens and we see the temperatures rise even
more, reaching well into the low to mid 90s. With dew points on the
rise though, it will start to feel a bit steamy outside. Sunday
night will be even warmer than Saturday night as many places,
especially areas in the urban corridor, will struggle to drop below
70 overnight.

While it will be hot inland this weekend, the shore will be only
slightly more bearable with highs in the mid to upper 80s on
Saturday, and upper 80s to around 90 on Sunday. A sea breeze may
develop Sunday afternoon, which would provide further relief.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
The heat continues as we head through the week with the high moving
little (if at all) over the Atlantic. 850mb temps remain between 15C
to 20C, so expect highs to be in the low to mid 90s Monday through
at least Wednesday. The high remains offshore but the ridging across
the Mid_atlantic starts to break down a bit around midweek, which
should help to break the heat down a little. By Thursday, highs
should start to drop into the upper 80s. Additionally, the dew
points start to drop off some as head later into the week, providing
some relief there as well. Sea breezes in the afternoon may provide
some relief from the heat down the shore.

The need for any heat headlines will need to be monitored,
especially as this looks to be our first foray into a slightly
longer stretch of hot and humid weather.

Some convection, mainly diurnally driven, will be possible in the
afternoons through much of the week.

.AVIATION /18Z FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.

Rest of the afternoon...SHRA/TSRA will impact terminals with
localized MVFR or IFR conditions. VFR otherwise. Will carry VCTS
and TEMPOs to cover storm potential. SW winds less than 10 kt.
Moderate confidence.

Tonight...SHRA/TSRA end shortly after 00Z. VFR for most of the
night, though MVFR VSBY possible in fog after 08Z. Light SW
winds. High confidence.

Saturday...VFR. SW winds less than 10 kt, becoming 10-15 kt
with gusts up to 20 kt in the afternoon. Afternoon sea breezes
possible at KACY/KMIV. High confidence.

Outlook...

Saturday night through Monday...VFR conditions expected. West
to southwest winds 5 to 10 knots. Sea breezes possible in the
afternoon, mainly at KACY and KMIV. Some fog is possible during
the late night and early mornings. High confidence.

Tuesday...VFR conditions expected. Showers and thunderstorms
possible in the afternoon. Southwest to west winds 5 to 10 knots.
Moderate confidence.

.MARINE...
Near-shore showers and thunderstorms possible by this evening,
but any activity should end fairly quickly between 8pm-10pm.

Sub-SCA conditions tonight through Saturday, though SW winds
will range from 15-20 kt on the ocean waters. Gusts to 25 kt not
expected due to a strong inversion as ocean temps will be
relatively colder than the land.

Rip Currents...

For today, the risk of rip currents along the New Jersey shore
is expected to be moderate due to southwesterly winds of 10 to
20 mph with some higher gusts. For coastline facing
predominantly southward, the rip current risk will be especially
elevated. For the Delaware beaches, the risk is expected to be
low. Similar conditions are expected on Saturday.
