What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this river flood advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Nashville, TN wrote its last area forecast discussion before this river flood advisory went out at Mar 28, 2:54 AM CDT, 2 hours 50 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Mar 28, 2:54 AM CDT, 2 hours 50 minutes before
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Nashville TN
254 AM CDT Sun Mar 28 2021

.DISCUSSION...

Estimated rain totals from this system look like 6 to as much as 10
inches in a band from Lobelville through Smithville. This, for now,
is a rough estimation though some ground truth reports are in
support of this. Accurate ground truth amounts will be finalized
later. Up to the minute storm total from the BNA airport is 6.53".
Furthermore....the radar estimate suggests the airport is a
little north of the heaviest estimated totals.

Cold front located back across far western TN at this time. Pressure
rises are noted to the west of this feature so the boundary is on
the way. Across the mid state, strong forcing continues along a very
slow moving pre frontal trough. Flooding has occurred across portions
of the northwestern two thirds of the cwa. All of this activity
should continue to slowly move eastward. Areas along the Cumberland
Plateau will likely experience heavy rainfall through 6 AM before
intensities start to fall off across that area. Otw, the flash flood
watch will be allowed to continue, as is, through the early morning
hours. We will likely begin to slowly clear areas from northwest to
southeast as the rainfall ends. As for the tornado watch, I will
continue to slowly clear counties from west to east. The threat
however, remains with the potential for rotating cells and damaging
winds. The new severe tstm watch for portions of the southern and
central Plateau, will continue and is good until 8am cdt. Looks
like we will transition to shower activity as the instability moves
eastward. The showers will end later today, around midday. Skies
will begin clearing from west to east at that time.

Moving on, looking rather cold tonight with lows 35 to 40. Not
planning on issuing a frost advisory at this time. The low temps may
be a bit too cold but will allow day shift to tackle this.

In the ext fcst, next chance of rain will be Tuesday night into
Wednesday. Instability for Tues night and early Wednesday looks weak
at this point in time. But, will go ahead and include a slight risk
of thunder since SPC has already put a marginal out for just to our
southwest. Otw, rainfall totals from this next event look like one
half inch.

For now Thursday through Saturday is looking dry.

For the ext temps, turning colder on Wednesday with falling temps
possible during the day. The coldest upcoming nighttime lows for this
forecast period look like Wednesday night and Thursday night. Frost
and or freeze advisories may be needed on down the road as it as
been declared that the growing season has begun.

&&

.AVIATION...
06Z TAF DISCUSSION.

Showers and strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will move
across the taf areas over the next few hours. CKV, however, looks
as though it will remain west of the heaviest activity as it
continues to move east and away from that taf site. Otw, the
thunderstorm threat looks as though it will finally end around 09Z
for BNA and MQY...and 11Z for CSV. The rain should end area wide
by 14Z, with partial clearing to follow.
