SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Saturday)
A blow-off cirrus shield from an overnight MCS has pushed its way
into northern portions of the CWA this afternoon. This has
resulted in less incident radiation across west Tennessee.
Temperatures have remained 3 to 5 degrees cooler as a result, with
many locations barely reaching 90F at this hour. Nonetheless, the
heat advisory was much needed as the majority of the CWA is
reporting a 105F heat index or greater.

Tomorrow's forecast looks very similar to today's, albeit slightly
hotter. A weakening surface front is expected to push into northwest
Tennessee by tomorrow afternoon. Cloud cover should be enough to
negate the need for an advisory across the far northern counties.
However, the rest of the Mid-South will see ample heat. In fact,
high temperatures will approach the triple digit mark along the
Delta region, with upper 90s across the rest of the area. Heat
indices will meet or exceed 105F across much of the area, with 110F
or greater across our southern two tiers of counties. Convection is
expected across portions of west Tennessee tomorrow afternoon as the
aforementioned front serves as a focus for convective initiation.

The heat forecast is bit more unclear for Saturday, as overnight
convection and height falls occur ahead of an approaching cold
front. There will still be a need for heat products across portions
of the CWA, but there is not enough confidence to make any decisions
at this point.

LONG TERM...(Sunday through Thursday)
The cold front will sag through our area Saturday night/Sunday
bringing storms, with localized heavy rainfall. Clouds and
convection on Sunday will reduce temperature readings. On Monday
as the front sinks south the risk for convection continues before
the slight risk of storms finally ends across the extreme
southern portion later Tuesday.

This cold front is the harbinger of a major pattern change for next
week. The upper ridge retrogrades into the Mountain West as a
fairly deep trough for early August develops across the Eastern
US. This circulates less humid and cooler air into the Mid-
South. By late in the period the risk for convection sneaks back
into forecast area.
