High pressure will continue over much of the area today. Showers
may clip far southern Arkansas during the day near the stalled
front in north Louisiana. High clouds will continue over much of
the area with VFR conditions.

SHORT TERM...Today Through Saturday Night
Upper low pressure is over northern Mexico with an upper trough
along the east coast. Northwest flow aloft extends from the northern
Plains through the Midwest and southern Plains. The upper low will
remain stationary today then slowly move east Saturday afternoon.
Northwest flow will continue over Arkansas.

Surface high pressure will be over Arkansas today with a stalled
front across north Louisiana. There will be a slight chance of
mainly showers over far south sections today. The high then moves
east of the area Saturday. As the surface high moves east southwest
flow will return in the low levels. This will bring an increase in
moisture to Arkansas. The front stalled just south of the state will
begin moving north late Saturday with increasing chances of showers
and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts will be light through
Saturday night. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 70s and mid
70s to around 80 Saturday. Lows tonight will be in the mid to upper
50s and then in the upper 50s to lower 60s Saturday night.

LONG TERM...Sunday Through Thursday
A period of active weather looks to be in place from Sunday through
Tuesday as a couple of H500 troughs move across the area in the SW
flow aloft. Showers and thunderstorms will overspread the area,
primarily on Sunday and again on Tuesday before a cold front makes
its way across the state Tuesday night and brings an end to the
precip.

The last few days of the forecast look a bit more settled with lower
rain chances mentioned at this time. While heavy rain may become a
concern through Tuesday, the focus looks to be south and east of
locations that were hit hard on Apr 28-29, perhaps limiting overall
flash flood concerns.

Temperatures through much of the period are expected to remain at or
below average values, with slightly cooler conditions expected in
the wake of the front by mid to late next week.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for a Large Part of Arkansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Rivers are elevated across much of Arkansas following heavy to
excessive rain Wednesday into Thursday. Minor to moderate flooding
is occurring or expected along portions of the Arkansas, Black,
Cache, Eleven Point, Ouachita, Spring, and lower White Rivers.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday Through Thursday

Thunderstorms are in the forecast this weekend through the middle
of next week. At this time, it appears that severe weather will
be spotty. However, there will be heavy rain, especially over
southern and eastern sections of the state. Several inches of rain
could occur, and this may cause additional flash flooding and
aggravate existing flood issues along area rivers.
