.EVENING UPDATE...

Tropical Depression Ida continues to move slowly away from our
region, with its remnant center currently crossing the
Interstate 55 corridor in northwestern Mississippi. A feeder band
of convection has impacted the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain,
and this activity may impact the Mississippi coastal counties
during the next few hours. Short-term, high resolution guidance
remains in disagreement on development of the next west-to-east
oriented feeder band development overnight, with areas along and
south of the I-10 corridor potentially impacted during the predawn
and early morning hours, although latest trends are for convection
to perhaps develop closer to the Gulf coast. Scattered showers
will continue to otherwise develop overnight as low level flow
backs from southwesterly to westerly, with drier air then
advecting into inland locations north of I-10 towards sunrise as
low level flow continues to back to northwesterly. Winds will
slowly subside overnight inland, with breezy southwesterly winds
continuing along the Mississippi coast. Lows will range from the
mid 70s inland to the upper 70s along the immediate coast and lake
shore.

We issued a Heat Advisory for the entire area on Tuesday given
that heat index values should rise to around 100 during the
afternoon hours as a drier air mass advects into our region,
allowing for partly to mostly sunny skies during the afternoon
hours, allowing highs to climb to near 90. This product was issued
given the ongoing widespread power outages across much of the
area, and hot conditions will present more of a threat for heat
illness with the lack of air conditioning available.

.MARINE...

Tropical Depression Ida will continue to move northeastward and
further away from our region tonight, but breezy southwesterly
winds and elevated seas will continue across most of our area
waters through early Tuesday, and a Small Craft Advisory remains
in effect. Showers and thunderstorms will likely redevelop over
our local waters this evening, with another band of gusty showers
and thunderstorms possibly developing overnight and then moving
eastward across our waters during the predawn and morning hours on
Tuesday. Breezy westerly winds and rough seas are likely over
open waters on Tuesday. Winds will begin to ease further by
Tuesday night.
