This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Louisiana and
southwest Louisiana.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

A warm front will lift north across the area today. Shower and
thunderstorm coverage will increase into tonight...with some of
these storms having the potential to become severe with tornadoes,
damaging winds and large hail possible. In addition to the severe
weather threat, these storms will have the potential to produce heavy
rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding.

A  warm front will lift north out of the coastal waters today.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible
through the day. Some of these storms will have the potential to
become severe during the afternoon and evening with waterspouts,
damaging winds and large hail possible.

A cold front will push through the region Saturday morning bringing

a line extending from near Melville to near Washington to Mermentau
to near Grand Chenier. Movement was northeast at 30 mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Lafayette, Opelousas, Crowley, Scott, Breaux Bridge, Rayne, Carencro,
Kaplan, Church Point, Lake Arthur, Gueydan, Krotz Springs, Leonville,
Arnaudville, Melville, Mermentau, Rockefeller Wildlife Range, Grand
Chenier, Klondike and Sunset.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

At 130 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Creole, or 8 miles east of Cameron, moving east at 60 mph.

Pea size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Cameron, Kaplan, Gueydan, Rockefeller Wildlife Range, Freshwater
City, Forked Island, Pecan Island, Grand Chenier, Klondike, Wright,
Creole, Lyons Point, Florence Landing and Rutherford Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
