The main concern is for 1 to 3 inch per hour rainfall rates and localized flash flooding in the hardest hit areas. Occasional lightning strikes are also possible through tonight. Please refer to the Flash Flood Watch headline for additional details. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY There is a daily risk of thunderstorms Tuesday through Friday. At this time no severe storms are expected. Heavy rain is possible on Tuesday that may lead to isolated flash flooding. A flash flood watch is in effect for areas south of a Sterling, Illinois to Kahoka, Missouri line. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today or tonight. CLARK COUNTIES UNTIL 200 PM CDT...
At 1200 PM CDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Memphis,
moving northeast at 35 mph.
Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this storm, along with
possible minor flooding.
Locations impacted include...
Fort Madison, Keokuk, Kahoka, Memphis, Nauvoo, Keosauqua, Hamilton,
Warsaw, West Point, Donnellson, Montrose, Wayland, Birmingham,
Milton, Bonaparte, Stockport, Wyaconda, Cantril, Alexandria and
Franklin.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, with rainfall
rates around 2-3" per hour. Minor flooding of low lying areas,
creeks, streams and urban areas is possible. If you encounter water
over a roadway, do not drive through it.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
