.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)
Issued at 325 AM CDT Sun Aug 15 2021

Weak northwesterly flow will continue in the upper levels with
south to southeasterly winds at the surface through tonight. Skies
are expected to become partly cloudy to mostly clear today with an
increase cloudiness tonight. A slight chance of precipitation will
be possible tonight but most places look to remain dry. As for
temperatures, highs today look to reach into the upper 80s to
around 90 degrees with lows tonight dipping into the 60s.

.LONG TERM...(Monday through Saturday)
Issued at 325 AM CDT Sun Aug 15 2021

A better chance of thunderstorms will be possible Monday as a weak
shortwave moves through the area. Precipitation chances will then
confined to south central Kansas down into Oklahoma Monday night
into Tuesday. A pattern shift is then expected as an upper level
trough digs into the Northwestern United states Wednesday and into
the Northern Plains Thursday. This will help push a cold front
through the Central High Plains Thursday into Friday bringing a
better chance of precipitation to western Kansas. A second
disturbance may move through the area this weekend but as of now
precipitation chances look to remain slight. As for temperatures,
highs look to reach into the mid 80s to around 90s degrees with
lows in the 60s.

VFR conditions will prevail with an increase in mid level
cloudiness. Winds will be light and from the southeast overnight
shifting to more of a southerly direction after sunrise.

Thunderstorms will be possible along the I-70 corridor this
morning. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible again tonight
starting in the west and spreading east. These storms are not
expected to be severe at this time.

shifting east into south central Kansas Monday night into Tuesday.
These storms are not expected to become severe.

A chance of thunderstorms will be possible during the mid to late
part of the week. It is too early to tell if these storms will
become severe.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of eastern Trego and
western Ellis Counties through 345 AM CDT...

At 308 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Riga, moving south at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
  Ellis, Ogallah and Riga around 325 AM CDT.

Other locations in the path of this storm include Cedar Bluff.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

At 346 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Riga. This storm was nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
  Ellis and Riga.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
