959 WWUS81 KBUF 160121 SPSBUF Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Buffalo NY 921 PM EDT Thu Jul 15 2021 NYZ019-020-160215- Chautauqua-Cattaraugus- 921 PM EDT Thu Jul 15 2021 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHERN CATTARAUGUS AND SOUTHEASTERN CHAUTAUQUA COUNTIES... At 920 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Jamestown and moving east at 40 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... Jamestown, Olean, Salamanca, Allegany State Park, Lakewood, Falconer, Allegany, St. Bonaventure, Jamestown West, Weston Mills, Frewsburg, Busti, Hinsdale, Great Valley, Carrollton, Randolph, Celoron, Portville, Ischua and Humphrey. This includes Interstate 86 between exits 11 and 27. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
