Showers and thunderstorms are likely across the area this afternoon
through Friday. Locally heavy rainfall is expected, and a few

early evening. The main threat will be damaging wind gusts.

HENRICO...SOUTHEASTERN HANOVER...KING WILLIAM...SOUTHEASTERN ESSEX
AND NORTHWESTERN LANCASTER COUNTIES AND THE CITY OF RICHMOND...

At 510 PM EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near Highland Springs to near Tuckahoe.
Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Wind gusts in excess of 40 mph and rainfall amounts of up to 1 inch
are possible with these storms.

These storms will be near...
  Tunstall, East Highland Park and Glen Allen around 525 PM EDT.
  Mechanicsville and Highland Springs around 530 PM EDT.
  King William, Hanover and Studley around 535 PM EDT.
  Stevensville around 540 PM EDT.
  Mangohick around 545 PM EDT.
  Manquin and Beulahville around 550 PM EDT.
  Aylett and Center Cross around 555 PM EDT.
  Saint Stephens Church, Robley, Morattico, Sharps and Millers
  Tavern around 600 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by these storms include Enfield, Upright,
Ino, Elmont, Etna Mills, Montrose, Sandston, Epworth, Westwood and
Biscoe.

If you see lightning or hear thunder, you are at risk! Take shelter
indoors immediately. If you cannot find shelter in a building a
vehicle provides safety from lightning.

Strong wind gusts are possible with these storms. These wind gusts
are capable of knocking down tree limbs, small or weakened trees, and
blowing around trash cans, potted plants, lawn furniture, and other
light outdoor objects.

Motorists should use extra caution in the vicinity of these storms.
Be prepared for rapid changes in weather and road conditions. Heavy
rain could cause ponding of water on roads, and possible minor
flooding of ditches and poor drainage areas.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
central, eastern, north central and east central Virginia.

along a line extending from near Berlin to near Pocomoke City.
Movement was east at 35 mph.
