Enough instability may be in place by the afternoon and evening hours whereby strong to severe thunderstorms could develop. Currently, the best chance of severe weather will be across southern and eastern areas with hail and damaging winds being the primary threat, although the development of a few tornadoes can not be totally ruled out. In addition to the severe weather threat, total rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with locally heavier amounts possible on top of a very saturated ground will lead to an increasing threat of flash flooding Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night and across the Cumberland Plateau Region through mid morning hours on Thursday. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for mid state as a result during this time period. Also, already elevated levels on several area rivers, creeks, and streams will worsen. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed on Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday morning for potential flooding and for strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening.
