.UPDATE...Narrow line of rain showers which earlier produced very
heavy rainfall amounts over 2 inches in an hour in southern
Escambia county around Pensacola and likely portions of Santa
Rosa county continues to weaken as it is moving into southern
Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties in northwest FL. Another large
area of rain showers with isolated embedded thunderstorms
continues to move across central MS and into our interior
southeast MS and southwest AL counties this evening. We have sent
an update to the forecast to increase POPs to 80-90% over these
northwest zones through at least the mid evening hours, and also
adjust POPs over the remainder of the area to account for the
latest trends. We will monitor radar trends over the northwest
CWA this evening for locally heavy rainfall and/or any localized
flooding concerns, but high resolution CAMs have been indicating a
gradual decrease in coverage and intensity of this activity late
this evening and overnight. Dense fog still looks to develop near
the immediate coast between 9 PM and midnight, before spreading
inland again through much of the area overnight. The current Dense

NEAR TERM /Now Through Wednesday Night/...Surface map analysis
shows a quasi-stationary front draped off the Mid-Atlantic westward
to the OH River Valley then southwest through the Mid- South region.
From there, the front crosses northern LA then back into southeast
TX. The boundary is providing enhanced ascent and intersects a
deeply rich, moist environment characterized by PWAT's ~ 1.8" and a
pooling of low level moisture transport given by long vectors.
Within this zone, radar continues to show a large shield of showers
and embedded pockets of convection streaming northeast from western
LA up across central portions of MS/AL. Further south over the
central Gulf coast, isolated to scattered showers and storms have
broken out, tracking eastward  as the environment has shown some de-
stabilization with regard to MUCape values 1500 to 2000 J/KG. Mid-
level lapse rates though remain poor. The higher radar reflectivity
cores in excess of 40 Dbz are rooted in the lowest 20 kft in much of
the activity with little structure thus far. Thus, locally heavy
rainfall rates can deposit a quick one to two inches in short period
of time. Storms have been moving steadily east with little residence
time over any one area, so the threat of flooding appears minimal.
There still could be a storm here and there that may over-achieve
and become briefly strong or severe. A marginal risk of severe
weather is in place generally along and north of US Hwy 84.

As mid-level ridge expands westward over the Gulf, the moisture axis
pivots northward tonight in a general west to east fashion with a
gradual lowering in PoPs as the evening progresses. Areas of dense
fog expected to re-form and a fog advisory has been issued through
mid AM Wednesday. A light southerly flow persists into Wednesday
with weak high pressure off the FL peninsula. A small PoP continues
into the day. Weak frontal boundary approaches from the north
Wednesday night resulting in a continuation in the small rain
chances.

Daytime Highs/Night-time lows to remain well above seasonal normals.

SHORT TERM /Thursday Through Friday night/...Isolated to
scattered showers expected Thursday into Thursday night as a weak
cold front moves through the area and stalls south of the coast as
it runs into a building upper ridge over the Gulf. Isolated
showers continue on Friday as the front washes and southerly flow
develops as another cold front approaches from the west. Dense fog
will continue offshore and near the coast, spreading inland at
night. Temperatures remain above normal through Friday. /13

LONG TERM /Saturday Through Tuesday/...Rain chances return to the
area along with isolated thunderstorms on Saturday as a cold front
moves across the area. The front will move south of the area
Saturday night with a much cooler and drier airmass moving into
the area. Drier and cooler conditions continue through Tuesday.

MARINE...Main impacts continues to be widespread dense marine
fog over the near shore waters of Alabama and Northwest Florida out
to 20 nm, including all inland bays and sounds.which is forecast to
create hazardous marine navigation as visibility can be restricted
to a half mile or less. A light southerly wind flow will continue
over the marine area through midweek as a surface ridge of high
pressure is positioned over the western Atlantic and eastern Gulf. A
weak cold front slides southward off the coast Thursday. Strong high
pressure builds eastward over the eastern US by the end of the week
resulting in a strengthening onshore flow and a build in seas. /10

SOUTHEASTERN COVINGTON COUNTY UNTIL 430 PM CST...

At 353 PM CST, the strong thunderstorm was located 8 miles north of
Lockhart, or 8 miles north of Florala, moving east at 20 mph.

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible with this storm.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern
Covington County.
