* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away 
  from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip
  currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide,

.SYNOPSIS...
Offshore high pressure will weaken tonight as Tropical
Depression One east of Florida slowly strengthens. TD One will
pass near or offshore of the NC coast late Sunday night and
Monday. Another area of low pressure will develop over the
Southeast and Mid- Atlantic Monday, and remain nearby through
much of next week.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
As of 530 PM Sat...Forecast remains on track. No changes to prev
disc.

Prev disc...Latest sfc analysis shows high pressure weakening
offshore, while TD One about 125 miles east of Melbourne, FL
begins to get better organized. Low lvl flow will become more
easterly overnight with grad increasing moisture, however only
expecting some shra over the cstl wtrs late. Increasing dewpts
and rather light winds will likely lead to some fog formation
inland. Lows mainly in the 60s.

Prev disc...TD One east of FL will slowly track NNE up the SE
coast Sunday. Please follow NHC for updates. Light showers could
begin to push onshore early Sunday morning, with coverage
increasing through the day. Low level thickness values, easterly
flow and increasing cloud cover support highs in the lows 80s
inland and mid to upper 70s for the beaches.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 530 PM Sat...Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for
portions of the NC coast. The depression is forecast to
strengthen and pass off the Southeast coast late Sunday and
Monday. Broad low pressure will keep unsettled weather in place
through the middle and end of next week.

Sunday through Monday...The storm will make it's closest
approach to eastern North Carolina during the day Monday.  The
overall trend in guidance has been to shift the track of the low
a bit closer to the North Carolina coast, with most of the 00Z
suite of deterministic models bringing the center of the low
within about 100 miles of Hatteras Island. The primary
implication of the eventual track will be how far the plume of
moisture spreads inland and thus the coverage of mainly light to
moderate rainfall. Current expectation is for one quarter to
one half of an inch of rainfall across coastal areas, with
localized higher amounts up to an inch or more possible mainly
if the low tracks closer to the coast.

Broad troughing developing inland will keep the pressure
gradient on the west side of the offshore low modest, helping to
mitigate the wind threat. However, swell generated from the
system will bring an elevated rip current risk through early
next week. See the TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING section for more
information.

The low will move off the coast Monday afternoon, with subsidence in
its wake bringing drying conditions from SW to NE. Temps will be
near to a few degrees above normal both days.

Monday Night through Friday...An H5 cutoff low will strengthen
as it drops over the Southeast Monday night and Tuesday. This
feature will translate to the surface as broad troughing
stretching from the Deep South to the Mid- Atlantic. Deep
moisture transport will ensue Monday night, bringing the chance
for showers and thunderstorms back into the forecast. An Omega
Block-like pattern will then set up, keeping the low nearby
through the end of the week. Confidence in forecast details for
this period remains low, especially with respect to timing, but
a series of waves is generally expected to pivot around the
upper level low, bringing periods of enhanced rainfall
potential through late week. Temps generally within about 5
degrees on either side of normal through the period, dependent
on the cloud cover and rainfall trends.

.AVIATION /00Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Short Term /through Sunday/...
As of 730 PM Sat...VFR conditions will continue through the
evening with light winds across all TAF sites. After midnight,
calm Erly winds with low dew point depressions will allow for
patchy areas of fog and low stratus. Latest models have eased
off a strong fog signal and shifted to more of a low stratus
event. Either way, IFR conditions will begin after 7z for most
sites. Fog will lift after sunrise with better mixing. Ceilings
will likely remain MVFR for Sunday as clouds build through the
day with the approach of our tropical system, though few moments
of VFR are possible mid- morning. ENE winds will begin to pick
up by the afternoon.

Long Term /Sunday night through Thursday/...
As of 2 pm Sat...TD One currently off the coast of Florida will
impact the area Sunday night into Monday, with flight
restrictions remaining possible mid- to- late week with periods
of showers/thunderstorms.

.MARINE...
Short Term /through Sunday/...
As of 250 PM Sat...Latest obs show E-SW winds 5-15 kt with seas
2-4 ft. High pres offshore will grad weaken as TD One becomes
better organized and strengthens off the Florida coast. The low
will begin to lift NNE tonight and slowly up the SE coast
Sunday. Winds will become more SE this evening then E overnight,
increasing to 15-20 kt Sunday. Seas of 2 to 4 ft currently will
grad build to 3 to 5 feet this evening and 4-6 ft Monday, as
S/SE swell from distant low increases. SCAs currently up for the
southern and central waters with seas building to 6 ft through
the day Sun.

Long Term /Sunday night through Thursday/...
As of 4 AM Fri...TD One will approach from the south Sunday
night, passing offshore Monday. While there remains uncertainty
in terms of the track of this system, the gradient is generally
expected to be weaker on the west side of the system, with winds
likely increasing to 10-20 kts and seas of 5-8 ft as the medium
period swell from the system begins to arrive Sunday,
persisting through Monday afternoon. SCAs continue through
Monday.

Low pressure developing inland brings increasing southwest winds
and building seas Tuesday. A series of shortwaves is expected to
impact the region mid-to-late week, bringing periods of breezy
winds and increased seas, though timing of these features
remains uncertain.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
As of 250 PM Sat...Increased medium period swell from low
pressure passing offshore will impact all area beaches this
weekend into early next week. Increased swim risk is expected,
with stronger and more frequent rip currents and more powerful
surf and shorebreak.
