FOR BROWARD COUNTY...

At 748 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Twin Lakes, or
near Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, moving east at 10 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach and Davie. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

CANCELLED...
        
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and has exited the warned area. Therefore, the warning has
been cancelled.  However gusty winds and heavy rain are still
possible with this thunderstorm.

.Short Term...
Through Sunday night...

A few showers and possibly a few thunderstorms will continue to sag
southward into the area as the tropical disturbance pushes further
off to the northeast over the Atlantic. Heavy rainfall isn't
expected, but saturated areas from yesterday and overnight could be
a little sensitive to additional rainfall today. Westerly flow
across the area today will warm the East Coast more than expected,
with high temperatures now forecast in the mid to upper 80s. A
similar but slightly warmer pattern is expected tomorrow, with high
temperatures ranging from the upper 80s to low 90s. A slight chance
of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for tomorrow afternoon,
primarily over the interior and East Coast with the seabreeze.

.Long Term...
Monday through Friday night...

Basically, for the mid to long range portion of the forecast, the
pattern is messy. A 500mb low, acts as a cutoff low over the
eastern US through the week. For Monday, the low is southwest of
the Great Lakes region, with a weaker 500mb trough in the flow
under the main low. This trough reached into the northern Gulf.
Also, the low pressure system, which has been bringing the
unsettled weather to South Florida this weekend, should be moving
north northeast along the eastern coastline. This should allow
for a somewhat quieter weather day for Monday, although there is
still a potential of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the
eastern interior due to some 500 mb PVA over the area and diurnal
heating.

The main low, which again is semi cutoff, digs south through the
middle of the week, setting up somewhere around the Central
Appalachian mountain area to over Tennessee, depending on the
model. This low keeps a continuous stream of moisture wrapping
around it, with South Florida having high chances of showers
through most of the week. There is also a chance of thunderstorms
through the week. However, if the area see continues periods of
rain, with enough cloud cover, it may hinder thunderstorm
coverage. So, there is some uncertainty with this through the end
of the week. However, if there are breaks in the clouds, heating
could occur quickly and cause enough instability to allow for
convection to be enhanced. There will also be the concern of
flooding for the east coast metro area for the entire week. Given
the area is already fairly saturated, would expect Flash Flood
Guidance to be much lower than normal, if the rain occurs as
models are predicting. If we get enough time in between showers,
the sandy type soil should allow the area to drain enough to help
mitigate flooding concerns.

So, the most likely scenario is that South Florida will see
showers and a few thunderstorms each day through the end of the
week. A reasonable worst case is that the rain is more continuous
and the area sees some flooding potential increase as the week
progresses.

.Marine...
Winds and seas will continue to subside as the area of low pressure
continues to slowly move northeastward and off towards the Atlantic.
While some showers and a few thunderstorms will still be possible
for the next few days, generally benign marine conditions are
expected into the work week. A cold front will approach the region
around midweek next week.

.Aviation...
Generally VFR conditions are expected through the period. A few
showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon, mainly
across the Lake Region and East Coast from Broward northward. Some
fog and/or low stratus will be possible across the interior
overnight, but confidence it would impact the taf sites is low.
Some additional showers and storms will be possible across the
interior tomorrow afternoon with the Atlantic seabreeze, which
should remain pinned fairly close to the coast due to west flow.

A moderate risk of rip currents is forecast for the Atlantic beaches
today.

This hazardous weather outlook is for South Florida.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

Heavy Rainfall: Locally heavy rainfall will be possible this
afternoon and evneing. Flooding of streets and low lying areas will
be possible, mainly focused in metro and coastal Broward and Palm
Beach Counties.

Thunderstorms: A few thunderstorms are possible over the interior
and east coast metro areas of South Florida. The primary hazards
will be lightning strikes and locally heavy rainfall.

Waterspouts: Waterspouts are possible across the Atlantic waters off
South Florida, Biscayne Bay, and Lake Okeechobee.

Rip Currents: There is a moderate risk of rip currents along the
Atlantic beaches.

Visibility: Patchy fog is possible over most of South Florida overnight
into early Sunday along with patchy smoke over the southern
Everglades and interior areas of Collier County due to wildfires
reducing visibilities below a mile at times.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

There will be a chance of thunderstorms across South Florida for the
middle to end of next week. Gusty winds, locally heavy rainfall,
lightning, and waterspouts will be possible with the strongest
storms.
