.DISCUSSION...
A cold mid-level trof was located just w of the 4-Corners region
with an intensifying 300mb jet moving across nrn Baja. Meanwhile a
cold front was located s of Clovis to s of Snyder. High
resolution models have speed up the front and backdoor the front
into MAF/HOB around 16Z today. By 18Z the said jet will be 110kts
and nosing into far W TX. Deep lift in assocn with left entrance
region of jet and frontogenesis will start around 00Z/Wed
increasing/over spreading much of the area by 06Z/Wed. In response
precip will develop in or near the far nw CWFA 21Z-24Z. High
temps along and n of I-20 will likely occur early, by 18Z? With
the help of precip cooled air a mix of RA/SN will be possible
before 00Z/Wed across nrn Lea County, elsewhere across SE NM-PB
and GDP-Davis Mtns a change over to snow is expected before
06Z/Wed. Guidance continues to mostly favor areas along and n of
I-20 for significant snowfall as well as the GDP-Davis Mtns. This
setup is different from the pattern that usually brings
significant snow to this area. However key ingredients will be
present. A cross section from near Tatum-se Midland shows good
lift/moisture coincident with the favored dendrite growth zone. In
addition there are steep lapse in the dendrite growth zone. As
such there will likely be some embedded convective elements, even
thunder, favoring snow banding. These bands will probably be
long/narrow resulting large differences in snow amounts over short
distances. The said mid- level trof is moving slow and after the
best lift exits 12Z-15Z Wed there will still be enough
lift/moisture e of the trof for light snow to linger off/on into
Wed afternoon. Speaking very generally snow amounts of 1-4" could
be fairly widespread from SE NM-PB and Davis-GDP Mtns, with local
higher amounts with the snow bands. We will continue with the
Winter Storm Watch, some of the southern areas may warrant
advisory instead of warning? As winds increase into Wed morning
the wx could be quite rough, low temps 20-25 degrees, 20 mph winds
(much stronger thru GDP Pass), single digit wind chills, snow and
low visibility. Winds will decrease by 18Z Wed, but high temps
could stay below freezing. Depending on how much snow is on the
ground Thur AM lows could be very cold, teens or even lower in
many areas. Thur-Fri dry nw flow will prevail with temps warming
to above normal courtsey modest low- level thermal ridging. A dry
cold front will move into the area Sat pushing high temps down a
few degrees below normal. Mid- level flow backs to the wsw Sunday
PM and high temps rebound quickly. Meanwhile the next upper low
will have moved INVOF SOCAL. Colder surface air will be lurking to
the n and it will attempt to move into area Monday, but
strengthening sw flow aloft will slow its progress.

Texas and southeast New Mexico late Tuesday through Wednesday.
Several inches of snow is possible. A Winter Storm Watch has been
issued for Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon for Southeast
