At 1216 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Pineville, or
17 miles southwest of Newton, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect damage 
         to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles.

This severe storm will be near...
  Roberts around 1230 AM CDT.
  Garlandville around 1235 AM CDT.
  Newton around 1240 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Montrose
and Louin.

.DISCUSSION...
Local radars had scattered storms tracking east along the Highway
84 corridor. This was nearly along the stalled frontal boundary as
Columbia and Hattiesburg were still reporting temperatures in the
lower 70s and dew points in the mid 60s. A couple of the storms
that track across our southeast most counties during the next
couple of hours could become strong with small hail and gusty
winds. The stalled boundary is expected to gradually move back to
the north later tonight as a warm front. There will be the
possibility of an isolated severe storm after midnight and from
the west as the warm front lifts north. This potential for severe
will continue into early Sunday morning. Temperatures are tricky
this evening as a large part of our CWA has already dropped close
to forecast minimum temperatures. Sunday morning lows will occur
just after midnight for the area north of the warm front.

Prior discussion below:

Tonight and Sunday...Surface frontal boundary has slowed to a
crawl over southern portions this afternoon. As surface high
pressure slips to the east of the Tennessee River Valley and
upstream storm system with developing surface low pressure pulls
into the Plains, flow will increase and become increasingly
southerly. This will begin lifting the frontal boundary back to
the north. Isentropic ascent overtop the boundary will lead to
elevated convection over much of the ArkLaMiss Delta region and
the possibility severe storms with hail being the main threat and
a threat for damaging wind closer to the surface frontal
interface.

A zone of heavy rain will develop along and north of the retreating
boundary as strong ascent combines with convective instability and
PWs from 1.5 to 1.75 inches for periods of thunderstorms repeatedly
moving over the same areas. Though the boundary will continue moving
north through the day, northern portions will be under these
conditions the longest where 3 to 5 inches could occur. This will
likely lead to flash flooding, especially in areas with ongoing
river flooding.

Further south in the warm sector, strong warming with dewpoints
rising into the lower 70s by afternoon will lead to surface CAPEs of
3000-4000 J/kg. Cold air aloft will yield 7C/km mid level lapse
rates and vertical totals in the upper 20s. While only around 15-20
knots of 0-1km bulk shear will exist early Sunday morning over the
area, values will rapidly increase from 30-40 knots during the
afternoon as the 50-60 knot low level jet moves across central and
southern portions. The lack of a focus in the warm sector will limit
convective coverage to isolated or scattered, but what does develop
will be supercellular and pose a damaging wind, large hail and
strong tornado potential. /GG/

Sunday Night through Friday...The threat for severe weather will be
ongoing across portions of the forecast area as the period begins
Sunday evening.  Ample instability, coupled with very strong wind
shear, and steep mid-level lapse rates currently looks to maintain
this threat across the CWA through late Sunday evening as the upper
level trough drives the strong cold front east through the region.
Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes will remain possible
through this first half of the Sunday night period.  Some showers
will linger behind the front through midnight.  However as the
overnight hours progress, activity will exit east and out of the
forecast area as high pressure builds in from the west.

Quiet weather, along with slightly cooler drier conditions, will
exist across the region Monday into Tuesday.  The high will slide
further east of the region on Wednesday resulting in a return in
southerly flow.  This, as the pressure gradient tightens over the
region in response to a deepening and developing storm system
approaching from the west, will cause increased moisture return
across the CWA through Wednesday night.  Currently, it's during this
late Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning timeframe,
that perhaps another bout of severe weather could become possible
across the forecast area.  That said, confidence in including this
potential in this afternoon's HWO currently remains too low as there
remains some evolution and timing differences in the models.

Showers and storms currently look to exit the region through the
course of Thursday morning.  High pressure again builds into the
region from the west.  Overall, Friday looks to remain quiet, but
rain chances will again be on the increase late Friday night as
another system looks to swing east into the region. /19/

will prevail through 06Z. After 06Z cigs wl lower to MVFR/IFR as a
warm front moves north across the area. Scattered SHRA and TSRA
will develop after 06Z and become more widespread at GLH-GWO- GTR
around sunrise. IFR/MVFR cigs will prevail Sunday along with

At 944 PM CDT, Meteorologists were tracking strong thunderstorms
along a line extending from near Kokomo to near Varnado. Movement was
northeast at 45 mph.

Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
these storms.
