At 715 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 11 miles southwest of Union, or 8 miles west of Rose Hill
State Park, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

This dangerous storm will be near...
  Buffalo around 740 AM EDT.
  Union, Jonesville and Monarch Mill around 750 AM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this dangerous storm include Cross Keys,
Sedalia, Adamsburg, Saratt and Cross Anchor.

limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.

.SYNOPSIS...
The remnants of post tropical system Delta will continue to bring
abundant moisture to the region today before the system moves off
the east coast on Monday. Gradual drying will occur through mid week
despite the approach and passage of a weak front on Tuesday. Drier
high pressure will settle in behind the front Wednesday through
Thursday. A sharper cold front will move through the region on
Friday, with much colder air arriving next weekend.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 355 AM EDT Sunday: A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for
portions of the area through this evening.

The latest satellite showed whats left of Delta spinning into
northern Alabama. Deep tropical moisture (precipitable waters near 2
inches) riding a stout 40 kt low level jet continued to support
bands of moderate to heavy rain across the area with the strongest
band pressing east from from northeast Georgia. Rainfall rates of
one to locally three inches per hour have been observed, prompting
the issuance of several short fused flood products. The bands will
continue to press east to northeast, placing much of the escarpment
and foothills in particular under the gun this morning into the
afternoon with additional flash flooding possible.

A weak surface depiction of the remnants of Delta will slide east
along roughly the I-85 corridor this afternoon into tonight. Bands
of moderate to heavy rain will continue to slide east ahead of the
main circulation through this afternoon before gradually waning from
west to east late this afternoon into the evening. Guidance
continues to show the potential for isolated to scattered
thunderstorms as strong southerly flow with some dry air entraining
aloft should support CAPE of 500 to 1000 (locally 1500 possible)
J/kg mainly along and south of I-85, along it may nose northward
into the NC Piedmont. Modest shear and DCAPE values may support a
damaging with threat with stronger thunderstorms. Low end helicity
values, possibly maximized near the eventual track of Delta or along
the eroding wedge boundary also supports the threat of a tornado.
The greatest threat for stronger thunderstorms looks to be late this
morning through early this evening and mainly east of I-26 and along
and south of I-85 as shown in the latest SPC marginal risk area.
Highs today will range from the 60s to near 70 for the I-40
corridor, to the 70s to near 80 further south.

Southerly flow today will back to the west/northwest tonight with
any lingering shower activity becoming confined to the Tennessee
border counties in the mountains and the I-77 corridor. Clearing
skies and the recent rainfall may support fog developing across many
areas. Lows tonight will fall into the 60s for most.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...
As 330 am EDT Sunday: The passing upper wave associated with the
remnants of post tropical system Delta will be just east of the
forecast area Monday morning and moving quickly toward the coastal
plain. Mid and upper levels will rapidly dry out behind the wave,
but lingering low-level moisture could permit lingering isolated
showers, especially in northern and western sections, Monday into
Monday night ahead of a weak cold front approaching from the
northwest.

Zonal upper flow will set up through Tuesday as the weak cold front
crosses the area from the northwest. Despite any clouds and the weak
fropa, thicknesses will remain high enough for much above climo
temps through the short term period.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
As of 345 am EDT Sunday: A passing cold front will settle just
southeast of the area on Wednesday, with generally drier conditions
as a surface high pressure center builds over to the north of the
area. Above climo temps will persist, but perhaps run a few degrees
less than Mon/Tue as thicknesses fall slightly.

A broad eastern trough will then steadily carve out Thursday through
Saturday as an H5 low closes off over Ontario. An associated cold
front will settle through the Ohio Valley on Thursday and reach the
southern Appalachians Thursday night. Isolated showers may form
along and ahead of the cold front late Thursday into Thursday night,
especially in the mountains. The very narrow moisture zone along the
immediate vicinity of the strong cold front should cross the
southern Appalachians Thursday night and settle southeast of the
region on Friday. Much drier and cooler air will follow the frontal
passage and frost/freeze concerns may redevelop across the NC
mountains for next weekend.

.AVIATION /08Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
At KCLT and elsewhere: Below normal confidence for 06Z TAFs as deep
moisture will support variable flight categories through the period
with at least brief improvement to high MVFR/low VFR possible south
of I-85 after 15Z. Low end gusts are possible at just about anytime.
Isolated TSRA possible mainly after 15Z and mainly along and south
of I-85. A surface low may move through the Piedmont causing at
least a brief wind shift around 18Z near I-26 including KGSP and
KAVL and closer to 00Z for I-77 corridor including KCLT. IFR or
lower cigs/vsbys likely to reform while SHRA decreases in coverage
after 00Z.

Outlook: Expect a return to prevailing VFR conds early next week
with night to early morning flight restrictions possible.

miles southwest of Abbeville, moving northeast at 25 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...

Hodges, Shoals Junction, Lake Greenwood and Calhoun Falls.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph and very heavy rainfall rates up to 2 inches
