Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 355 PM EDT Tue Apr 14 2020 .SHORT TERM /Tonight through Wednesday Night/... Current satellite loop shows some fair weather CU developing across the state as we sit right in between two frontal systems. The first system is the tail end of the front that brought severe weather to the area Sun night as it stalled over Northern FL yesterday. The second system is a wave/boundary over western TN and KY and it is expected to move NE overnight. It will brush across N GA tonight but the deepest moisture will have already moved NE by the time it gets here. We may see some light showers across eastern portions of the state but not expecting much more overnight. The southern system does push a bit into central GA Wed morning/afternoon and we will see some isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms but not expecting any severe weather. Both of these systems move east of the area by Wed night allowing a drier airmass to move in for the beginning of extended forecast. The pressure gradient between these two system tightens across AL/GA tonight which will bring increased winds to the region. Will see NW winds in the 8-12 mph range with gust near 20mph tonight. We will see temps dip down into the Middle 30s across North GA but with the winds staying up over night not expecting any frost. Temps also expected to stay above freezing so no freeze warnings expected either. Temps do not rebound much Wed with highs expected in the 50s across N GA and near 70 across central portions of the state. Looking at more cool temps Wed night with lows getting down into the 30s and 40s again for Thu morning. 01 .LONG TERM /Thursday through Tuesday/... Only minor changes made to Temps and timing of pops in the extended. Zonal flow will push the lingering precip out of southern Georgia late Wednesday bringing relatively stable dry air in behind it until the weekend. Moisture begins to return to the area out in front of another pacific low on Saturday resulting in an increased chance of pops. The GFS pushes the wave through quickly, while the Euro holds off on the bulk of the precip until Sunday. Used a blend of the models to hold at least a chance precip through the entire weekend until Monday when models come back into agreement and bring a strong chance for thunderstorms out ahead of another short wave. Temperatures will stay slightly below seasonal average for the remainder of the week with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 40s before rebounding this weekend back into the 70s.
