.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure builds into the region tonight, then much milder
weather follows for Sunday and especially Monday. An approaching
cold front may bring scattered showers Tuesday, followed by
high pressure and dry weather Wednesday and Thursday. Another
cold front may bring scattered showers Friday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
630 PM Update: No significant changes.

Forecast is on track. Gusts gradually diminish through 10 PM
which will allow for good radiational cooling with very dry
airmass in place (dew points are near or below zero!) Expect
some increase in mid/high clouds overnight which may cause temps
to level off. Nonetheless, expect a cold night with lows in
teens and 20s.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Sunday...

High pres moves off the mid Atlc coast with return flow developing.
Some mid/high clouds in the morning will give way to more sunshine
in the afternoon. After a cold start, it will become a mild
afternoon as low level warm advection brings warmer temps aloft into
SNE. With westerly flow, highs will reach low/mid 50s, except upper
40s higher terrain and Cape/Islands.

Fire weather...It will be another dry day with minimum RH
dropping to 20-25 percent away from the coast. However, much
less wind with gusts to 20 mph at times.

Sunday night...

Dry weather with light winds. A weak shortwave may bring some high
clouds overnight, otherwise mostly clear to partly cloudy. Milder
night with lows in the 30s, with some upper 20s CT valley in
northern MA.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Highlights...

 * Unseasonably warm Monday
 * Scattered showers Tuesday and again Friday

Northern stream remains dominant next week as series of shortwaves
drive cold fronts through southern New England Tuesday-Wednesday and
again Friday-Saturday. Overall pattern looks to feature above
average temperatures and light rainfall amounts, with brief shots of
cooler air behind each front. Leaned on NBM guidance for most of
period.

Exception is on Monday where pattern favors springlike warmth, which
is not being captured completely in model guidance. Warm sector-type
weather with W/SW flow and plenty of sunshine expected. 925 mb temps
and model 2m temps suggest highs in 60s for much of SNE, with 70-
degree readings likely near Hartford/Springfield and in much of
interior eastern MA. Exception to warmth is immediate South Coast,
Cape Cod, and Islands due to SW flow off cooler ocean, where highs
should remain in 50s.

Despite warmth we are probably not in record territory. Record highs
for Monday were all set in 2016 and include 81 at BDL, 77 at BOS, 74
at ORH, and 70 at PVD.
