.SYNOPSIS...
Very cold conditions will persist over most valley level locations
through the end of the week, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s
below in most areas with a few 50s below over the Eastern
Interior. Where there is some wind temperatures have moderated in
some areas across the Interior. With the wind there are cold wind
chills for portions of the Interior and the West coast through
Friday.

.DISCUSSION...
Aloft at 500 mb, Ridging will persist over the north slope
through Saturday. A long wave trough will set up over the Bering
Sea through the weekend. 850 MB temps range from-20C to -24C,
with the coldest temps over the Eastern Interior. Slight rise in
850 temps through the weekend. The ridge will slide to the east
by Sunday and westerly flow and warmer air will set up over
the Interior by early next week which should moderate temperatures
across the Interior.

Surface...High pressure extends N over the Central Arctic from a
1033 mb high near Prudhoe Bay. High pressure will persist as a
1031 mb high develops 100 nm N of Utqiagvik Fri morning and moves
to 150 nm N of Kaktovik by Sat morning at 1034 mb. Low pressure
will push NE over the Chukchi Sea Fri night. Strong high pressure
will develop over the eastern Interior over the weekend.

Arctic Coast and Brooks Range...Mainly clear, winds generally
less than 10 mph, temperatures will remain cold, but do warm a few
degrees over the next couple days. As the high pressure lifts to
the northeast, leeside troughing will push east, north of the
Brooks Range and south winds will develop near passes. Expect some
blowing and drifting snow to develop with reduce visibility.

West Coast and Western Interior...A decaying front will move to
the Lower Yukon Delta and St Lawrence Island Friday morning, but
expect only a few flurries. The front will bring some increased
wind to those areas so expect some local areas of blowing snow. A
second front will move to those areas on Saturday with a little
more punch with more snow and blowing snow. Wind chill advisories
are out for southern west coast through Friday afternoon.

Central and Eastern Interior:
Patchy ice fog will continue around the Fairbanks area through
Friday morning. Surface temperatures will remain cold through the
week. Expecting 35 to 45 below over the Central Interior and 45 to
55 below over the eastern Interior. Where there is some wind
temperatures have moderated in some areas across the Interior.
With the wind there are cold wind chills for portions of the
Interior and the West coast through Friday. Wind chill advisories
have been issued for the higher terrain across the Interior.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
