This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of north and central
New Mexico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms over northeast NM
today and tonight where large hail, damaging winds, minor flooding,
and frequent lightning strikes are possible. Storm motion will be
toward the east and southeast at 20 to 30 mph.

The east central and southeast plains will remain in the grips of a
blistering heat wave today with more record high temperatures.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

There is a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms again Tuesday over
far northeast NM where large hail, damaging winds, minor flooding,
and frequent lightning strikes are possible. Storm motion will be
toward the east and southeast at 15 to 25 mph.

Record high temperatures will continue Tuesday over the east central
and southeast plains before readings gradually cool closer to normal
through late in the week. The coverage of showers and storms with
locally heavy rainfall will finally increase across NM Wednesday and
Thursday. A slight downtick is expected Friday and Saturday before
another moisture surge arrives Sunday and Monday.

At 202 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 17 miles northwest of Fence Lake to 25 miles
southwest of Acoma Pueblo to 22 miles west of Bernardo. Movement was
northeast at 25 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Valencia, Los Lunas, Grants, Belen, Zuni Pueblo, Bosque Farms,
Peralta, Milan, Laguna Pueblo and Acoma Pueblo.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 69 and 138.
 Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 167 and 211.
 Highway 60 between Mile Markers 166 and 167.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Blowing dust associated with strong thunderstorm winds can reduce
visibilities below one quarter mile at times.
