A few thunderstorms are possible over and near south central and southwest mountains this afternoon and evening. Storm motions will be slowly to the south and southwest. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday An abrupt and major change to much colder, windier and wetter weather is expected Tuesday through Wednesday. Potentially damaging winds may develop across parts of eastern New Mexico on Tuesday with locally strong to damaging east canyon winds affecting parts of the Rio Grande Valley Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Accumulating snow will be possible for parts of north central and northeast New Mexico Tuesday night through Wednesday although amounts may be variable due to snowfall rates and the very warm ground temperatures. A messy mix of precipitation could develop over portions of northeast New Mexico Tuesday night while an early season freeze appears likely for portions of central and northeast New Mexico Wednesday morning and Thursday mornings.
