...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 PM CDT
FOR SOUTHWESTERN BEADLE COUNTY...

At 631 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Huron, moving
southeast at 35 mph.

This is a very dangerous storm.

HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect 
         considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. 
         Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

This severe storm will be near...
  Huron around 635 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include
Broadland.

Very high winds are about to move into Huron. Take shelter now!

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind
speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are
especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be
overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the
lowest floor of a building. This storm has the potential to cause
serious injury and significant property damage.

At 644 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Huron, moving
southeast at 30 mph.

This is a very dangerous storm.

HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

         shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect 
         considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.

This severe storm will be near...
  Cavour and areas south of Cavour around 700 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include
Virgil.

This storm produced 76 mph winds at Huron Regional Airport at 639 pm 
CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. This storm is producing
widespread wind damage around the Huron area. SEEK SHELTER
NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.

.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Sunday)
Issued at 233 PM CDT Sat Jul 13 2019

Towering cumulus working into western Beadle County as of 19Z ahead
of weak shortwave moving from central South Dakota into southwestern
Minnesota.  As the short wave moves east, could see isolated to
scattered storms develop.  With slightly stronger shear in the 700-
500 mb layer, 0-6 km bulk shear values are 30-35 knots. This
combined with 3500-4000 J/kg of weakly capped surface based CAPE
will create the potential for large hail and damaging winds through
the early evening hours.

Once the weak short wave moves through the area, expect overnight
period to be fairly quiet.  Southerly flow at 925 hpa increases
slightly through the overnight with heat and humidity building north
into the area.  With heating during the day on Sunday, should see
temperatures warm into the 90s.  Concern with cloud cover impacting
heating a bit, especially in the north as another shortwave moves
east along the North/South Dakota border. There is the potential for
additional storms with this disturbance, but should mainly be
focused north of the forecast area. With adequate heating and dew
points in the 70s, am concerned about the potential for areas along
and west of the James to reach heat advisory criteria. Considered a
heat headline, but through collaboration, opted to hold off for now.

.LONG TERM...(Sunday Night through Saturday)

Upper ridge expands a bit on Monday, and could see more heat
advisory conditions, especially along and west of I-29.  A boundary
associated with a wave moving across southern Canada will approach
Monday night and linger through much of the week.  Depending on he
location of the boundary, there are sporadic chances of
thunderstorms throughout the remainder of the week, with hot and
humid conditions continuing.  High temperatures look to be near 90,
with lows near 70.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Sunday afternoon)
Issued at 1228 PM CDT Sat Jul 13 2019

VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period. A few showers
and thunderstorms are possible along Highway 14 in east central
South Dakota and southwest Minnesota. This activity could impact
KHON later this afternoon.

Isolated strong to potentially severe storms may develop in areas
along and north of Interstate 90 this afternoon and early
evening. The main risks will be hail up to the size of golfballs
and 60 mph winds.

Heat index values Saturday afternoon will average between 90 and
98 degrees.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

Heat index readings will climb between 95-105 degrees beginning
Sunday and continuing through Thursday. Occasional thunderstorm
chances will remain in the forecast, especially late Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday.
