.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)
Moderate to heavy rain was ongoing across portions of the Missouri
Ozarks this morning within a deep southwest flow regime. A long
wave trough axis was aligned across the Rockies, helping to force
Gulf moisture into the Ozarks.
Intermittent rain is expected to persist through much of the day,
with a few showers lingering this evening and through the night
for portions of far southern Missouri. We could observe some
rainfall amounts ranging from two to three and a half inches in
the heaviest band of precip. The Flood Watch will continue through
00z this evening, and through midnight for Howell, Oregon, and
Shannon counties.
For the most part, tomorrow will be dry and cool with highs
ranging from the upper 40s in the Osage Plains, to the lower 60s
in south central Missouri.
Mostly dry conditions will continue into tonight, with lows
falling in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
.LONG TERM...(Wednesday through Monday)
By late afternoon Wednesday, the upper low will approach the
Ozarks from the west. This feature will force additional showers
through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Wednesday night
and Thursday's showers will likely produce another quarter to half
inch for most locations.
Cooler temperatures will follow as a Canadian airmass spreads
across the area. Look for lows to fall into the 30s Thursday
night into Friday morning, with highs only reaching the upper 50s
and lower 60s.
By Saturday, another reinforcing shot of Canadian air approaches
from the north. This system could also bring a quick shot of
showers and isolated thunderstorms through Saturday evening.
Overnight lows Sunday night into Monday could approach freezing.
As of now we do not have a hard freeze forecasted, however we do
have temps in the low 30s.

Area of moderate to heavy rainfall moving through the area this
afternoon. Heaviest rainfall will occur generally from SGF and
BBG and to the east. Some isolated thunder is possible at BBG this
afternoon. Most of the rain will exit the area this evening
however some isolated showers may exist for a few hours overnight.
IFR ceilings are likely for most of the TAF period. There is some
potential for fog development by early tomorrow morning,
especially at SGF and BBG, for now have gone down to 1SM however
some models are lower on vis. Will need to watch trends on vis for
fog potential. Winds will generally remain out of the north to
eventually northeast.
