.SYNOPSIS...
Cold front drifts east of the area today, but shifts back west
on Wednesday. Unsettled weather for midweek. Focus then turns to
Hurricane Florence over the weekend and early next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 321 AM Tuesday...

Sfc front continues to slowly move east across the far E/SE
CWA, early this morning. Weak isentropic lift is leading to
some areas of light rain, but the best chances should remain
across the higher terrain of SE/E WV.

A lot of cloud cover is expected this morning, but some low
level mixing in the afternoon may result in some breaks in the
overcast, with some guidance even hinting at some substantial
clearing occurring. For now, will carry partly to mostly cloudy
skies for the afternoon.

Max temps will be dependent upon how much clearing takes
place...and could be higher than currently forecast if the
cloudiness does in fact mix out.

Another round of clouds and fog are expected tonight as the
lower levels of the atmosphere remain rather saturated. Patchy
light rain or drizzle may also occur overnight, but chances are
too low to mention for most areas at this time.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
As of 321 AM Tuesday...

Height fields are prog to remain low on Wednesday with a surface
front/trough across the Mid Atlantic states trying to retrograde
back west...in response to Hurricane Florence shifting west
across the Atlantic. Combination of this sfc troughing remaining
in the area along with diurnally driven instability should
result in scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across
the eastern half of the CWA on Wednesday.

Some drier air through the atmospheric column develops across
the CWA on Thursday, due to a sinking/compressing airmass out
ahead of Florence (Carnot cycle processes). This should keep
precip chances lower and max temps warmer.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 321 AM Tuesday...

There have been some changes made to the Long Term forecast for
this forecast cycle. Nearly all 00z guidance suites (and many
ensemble members) have shifted farther west with the ultimate
track of Hurricane Florence...with many models now wanting to
take the center of Florence over or just west of the CWA. This
would result in significant rainfall for much of the area (if it
pans out). I do not want to jump completely on board with this
farther west scenario just yet, as we are still far out enough
in time to where significant shifts back and forth in the
forecast track can still occur. However, the overall shift
westward overnight has allotted me enough confidence to increase
POPs at least a little bit for early next week. Guidance has
also trended slower with the progression of Florence as it
approaches the coast...and thus I have slowed down the arrival
time of precip across the CWA.

If the center of the system does ultimately move over the CWA,
a period of breezy conditions may occur early next week
(especially across the highest terrain).

The long term forecast may still have some major/significant
changes made to it between now and over the weekend/next week.

Poor flight rules generally expected to prevail through at least
mid morning, although a few aerodromes may see improvement
before then. Areas of stratus should gradually have CIGs rise
through the day, with VFR possible in the afternoon.

Additional round of stratus and some reductions in VSBYs
expected Tues night.

Few SHRA possible KBKW to KEKN today, but impacts should be
minimal.
